  • Publication number: 20140169970
Abstract: An attached duct propeller system may include at least one propeller blade having at least one blade tip. A duct having an inner wall may surround the at least one propeller blade. The at least one propeller blade may attach to the inner wall of the duct. In certain embodiments, the attached duct propeller system may include a propeller shaft attached to a bore of the at least one propeller blade. In certain embodiments, the at least one blade tip may be trimmed to allow alignment within the duct and allow for the attachment of the at least one blade to the inner wall of the duct. The attached duct propeller system may be used for vehicles that use at least one propeller for propulsion.

  • Publication number: 20070249921
Abstract: A connector for establishing electrical connection between a testing device and a test strip with a biological fluid thereon includes a contact pad on the test strip, and one or more contact wires in the testing device. When the strip is inserted into the testing device, part of the strip's end engages a contact portion of a contact wire and deflects it in a direction normal to the direction of insertion. In certain embodiments the radius of curvature (in the direction of insertion) of the contact portion is controlled to reduce abrasion of the strip by the wire. In other embodiments the radius of curvature (perpendicular to the direction of insertion) is controlled to reduce the abrasion of the strip by the wire. Sometimes the contact portion and/or contact pad is plated with a sacrificial material to reduce the coefficient of friction. In other embodiments various numbers of contacts receive the end of the strip substantially simultaneously, or are staggered in rows to distribute the resistance presented.

  • Publication number: 20050279631
Abstract: The present invention provides a test strip for measuring a signal of interest in a biological fluid when the test strip is mated to an appropriate test meter, wherein the test strip and the test meter include structures to verify the integrity of the test strip traces, to measure the parasitic resistance of the test strip traces, and to provide compensation in the voltage applied to the test strip to account for parasitic resistive losses in the test strip traces.

  • Patent number: 5972715
Abstract: A method for improving the accuracy of temperature sensitive diagnostic assays which are carried out using reflectance spectrometers to detect color changes in a solid test system which has been contacted with a fluid test system suspected of containing an analyte whose presence and/or concentration is being sought. The method involves determining the temperature of the solid test material by measuring the reflectance of a thermochromic liquid crystal in close proximity to the solid test material and correcting the result of the assay for a change in temperature from a pre-selected nominal temperature.
