  • Publication number: 20090304930
Abstract: A system and method for automatically applying a gel coat brush stroke pattern over an image surface secured to a support is described. A liquid gel applicator dispenses a predetermined quantity of transparent liquid gel on the image surface. A brush stroking machine is provided with a plurality of brush head modules which are connected to a reciprocating linkage. The linkage causes reciprocal arcuate displacement of bristles secured to the brush head modules. An adjustable support positions the bristles over the image surface for contact with the liquid gel dispensed thereon by the liquid gel applicator. A conveyor displaces the support with the image surface facing up under the liquid gel applicator and the bristles of the brush head modules along a straight axis whereby reciprocating displacement of the bristles imparts brush stroke patterns in the liquid gel over the image surface.

  • Publication number: 20070071950
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a decorative plaque from a paper printed image is described. A canvas texture pattern is embossed in a sheet of paper having an image printed on a front face thereof. The embossed sheet is then secured on a backing support member from a rear face of the paper image. A clear UV protective coating is applied over the front face. The image printed on the paper resembles that of a painting made on canvas or an image printed directly on canvas.

  • Publication number: 20070065646
Abstract: A method of fabricating a high-gloss liqui-finish artwork print which comprises the steps of cutting to size a rigid backing material for receiving a printed image paper sheet on a flat surface thereof. The image paper sheet is secured on the surface to create an artwork product. The contour edge of the backing material is treated as per a certain requirement. The backing material with the laminated image paper sheet and the treated contour edge is then transferred to a dust-free and ventilated workspace where there are virtually no air borne contaminants. A coat of clear self-leveling lacquer is deposited on at least the laminated paper sheet of the artwork product. The lacquer coated artwork product is maintained dormant for a period of time sufficient to permit the lacquer to level off and substantially all air bubbles trapped therein to escape. The artwork product is cured under UV lighting for a predetermined period of time to effect complete curing.

  • Patent number: 6920712
Abstract: A composite laminated print and frame and method of fabrication is described. A canvas sheet is secured on a flat outer contour surface of a circumferential hollow frame member such that the canvas sheet is accessible from behind the frame. A printed image sheet is bonded on a clear plastic film sheet with an image of the sheet facing the clear plastic film sheet. The plastic film has a marginal extension portion all about the image sheet. The marginal extension portion extends over a circumferential outer side wall of the frame member and is held taunt by fasteners over the canvas sheet with the image facing outwardly. The canvas is visible and touchable from the rear of the frame given the impression that the image is directly on the canvas.
