  • Patent number: 9125707
Abstract: According to a first configuration, a hand tool is configured to include a shaft, a handle disposed at a proximal end of the shaft, and a tubular tip disposed on a hinge at a distal end of the shaft. The tubular tip pivots about the hinge, providing a way to steer a resource to a specific location in a medical site. In accordance with a second configuration, a hand tool includes a flexible section of tube, a flexible sheathing, and a link. The flexible sheathing encases the flexible section of tube. At least a portion of the link resides between an outer surface of the flexible section of tube and an inner surface of the flexible sheathing. One end of the link is affixed to a distal tip of the flexible section of tube. Pulling on the link causes the flexible section of tube to arc.

  • Publication number: 20150190147
Abstract: A surgical drill bit and retrograde reamer bit perform antegrade and retrograde drilling of a stepped diameter surgical tunnel employing a detachable reamer bit of a different diameter than the entry (antegrade) bit. The entry drill bit employs a cannulated shaft having a bore adapted to receive a guidewire and fluted cutting edges on an outer circumference of the shaft to define the surgical tunnel. A transverse receptacle across a diameter of the shaft extends substantially orthogonal to an axis of the bore is adapted to receive a reamer bit having a wider diameter for antegrade drilling the larger of the stepped diameters by withdrawing the reamer bit in the opposed direction from entry. The transverse receptacle is shaped for receiving the reamer bit and is adapted to secure the bit for retrograde cutting by intersecting with the bore for securing the reamer bit via engagement of a guidewire.

  • Patent number: 8523875
Abstract: A graft caliper provides for a first member having a first pick at its distal end and its proximal end attached to a handle. A second member of the graft caliper is disposed above the first member and has a second pick at its distal end that extends beyond the first pick. The proximal end of the second member is attached to an adjuster which causes the second member to move from a first position to a second position in order to change a distance the second pick extends beyond the first pick. The graft caliper provides for an indication of at least one metric for describing the distance the second pick extends beyond the first pick and places an identifier on a surface of bone representing the location of a tunnel to be formed through a femur, tibia or any other anatomical structure.

  • Publication number: 20130184610
Abstract: A guide for a flexible member includes a stationary member, an articulating member, and an actuating member. The articulating member defines a first lumen. The stationary member, the articulating member, and the actuating member are coupled to one another by one or more arcuate grooves or flanges such that the articulating member pivots relative to the stationary member when the actuating member is moved relative to the stationary member. The stationary member and the actuating member form a second lumen arranged to accommodate the flexible member coextensively in the first lumen and the second lumen.

  • Publication number: 20130116787
Abstract: A graft attachment device includes a platform member, a ratchet mechanism, and a graft connecting element. The ratchet mechanism includes a rack member and a pawl member coupled to the rack member. The rack member has a first end, a second end, and teeth between the first end and the second end. The platform member is coupled to the first end. The pawl member is configured to engage with the teeth of the rack member such that movement of the pawl with respect to the rack member and the platform member is free in a first direction towards the first end of the rack member while being limited in a second direction towards the second end of the rack member. The second direction is opposite the first direction. The graft connecting element is coupled to the pawl member and configured for attachment to a graft.
