Publication number: 20200315678Abstract: Apparatus and methods for treatment of a bone. The apparatus may include a mesh anchoring substrate extending longitudinally between a base and a hub. The base may have a base first end adjacent the mesh, a base second end opposite the base first end, and a cannula extending through the base. The apparatus may include a support. The support may include an elongated body extending between an end of the support and a flange. The end of the support may be configured to be removably coupled to a coupling mechanism in the hub. The flange may be configured for being seated outside the base against the base second end. A maximum circumference of the elongated body may be not greater than a cannula circumference.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 9, 2020Publication date: October 8, 2020Inventors: Michael Charles Mazzio, Jeffrey Lincoln Carver, Grazyna Wlodarski, Eric Fulkerson, Frank Liporace, Michael Morwood, Anjan Shah, Roy W. Patent number: 8998902Abstract: The present invention provides a clamp assembly which allows the surgeon to snap a bone fixation assembly onto a bone fixation rod at an intermediate location along the length of the rod. It is not necessary to “thread” the clamp onto the rod starting at the end and sliding it down the length of the rod to the desired location. In particular, this invention provides a novel clamp assembly for use with standard bone fixation rods, and bone pins. The clamp allows the interconnection of a bone fixation rod with a bone pin locking assembly including a bone pin vise. The clamp is a single-piece construction, having a jaw capable of loosely capturing the bone fixation rod when the surgeon presses the jaw onto the rod. The assembly may be rigidly fixed to the rod using a bolt which tightens the jaw onto the rod.Type: GrantFiled: January 10, 2013Date of Patent: April 7, 2015Assignee: Depuy Synthes Products, Inc.Inventors: Mindy Lynn Hoffman, Charles Dean Preston, II, Michael Charles Mazzio

Patent number: 8372073Abstract: A fixation rod clamp is for coupling a bone pin locking assembly to a bone fixation rod. The clamp comprises a rod attachment portion including a jaw portion and a coupling portion, the jaw portion having first and second opposing jaws extending in a first direction, the jaws forming an opening there between configured to receive the bone fixation rod, the coupling portion extending from the jaw portion in a second direction; and a coupling having a pin vise cooperating portion to engage the bone pin locking assembly and a clamp cooperating portion configured to receive the coupling portion. The jaw portion is configured to engage the bone fixation rod when the bone fixation rod is located within the opposing jaws to thereby mechanically couple the bone pin locking assembly to the bone fixation rod.Type: GrantFiled: March 2, 2010Date of Patent: February 12, 2013Assignee: Sythes USA, LLCInventors: Mindy Lynn Hoffman, Charles Dean Preston, II, Michael Charles Mazzio

Patent number: 7875030Abstract: A simplified external bone fixator assembly is provided which allows the surgeon to snap a bone fixation rod into the assembly at any location along the length of the rod. The invention does not require “threading” of the assembly onto the rod starting at the end and sliding it down the length of the rod to the desired location. In particular, a bone pin locking assembly is provided for use with standard bone fixation rods and bone pins. The assembly includes a bone pin vise, a single-piece fixation rod attachment member and a coupling to allow relative adjustment of pin vise and rod attachment member. The single-piece rod attachment member has two opposing jaws that loosely capture the bone fixation rod when the surgeon presses the rod into the attachment member. The assembly may be rigidly fixed to the rod using a bolt which tightens the attachment member onto the rod.Type: GrantFiled: March 22, 2006Date of Patent: January 25, 2011Assignee: Synthes USA, LLCInventors: Mindy Lynn Hoffmann-Clair, Michael Charles Mazzio
