Patent number: 11872996Abstract: A control system for a motor vehicle having a first control unit and having a first power electronics unit connected in a signal-transmitting manner to the first control unit for supplying power to a first actuator in normal operation of the control system. In order to ensure proper operation of a control system for a motor vehicle, even in the event of a fault, the control system has a backup control unit and a backup power electronics unit connected in a signal-transmitting manner to the backup control unit for supplying power to the first actuator in a first backup operation of the control system. The backup control unit is connected to the first control unit in a signal-transmitting manner. The control system is transferred from normal operation to the first backup operation as a function of the arrival in the backup control unit of a fault signal.Type: GrantFiled: February 8, 2021Date of Patent: January 16, 2024Assignee: Hella GmbH & CO. Publication number: 20240009766Abstract: Methods and systems for coordinating pulse powers and focal positions of laser beam pulses used to form a subsurface optical structure. Focal positions for a sequence of laser beam pulses may be stored in a scanning controller configured for controlling operation of a scanning assembly to scan the sequence of laser beam pulses to focal positions in the ophthalmic lens. A memory associated with a power controller may store pulse power data values corresponding to pulse powers for the sequence of laser beam pulses. The power controller can control a pulse power control assembly based on the pulse power data values. Operation of the scanning controller may be synchronized with operation of the power controller during scanning of the sequence of laser beam pulses to the focal positions in the ophthalmic lens via communication of one or more trigger signals between the scanning controller and the power controller.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 22, 2023Publication date: January 11, 2024Applicant: Clerio Vision, Inc.Inventors: Sam Butler, Michael Claus, Jonathan Ellis

Patent number: 11474283Abstract: Sub-diffraction limited magneto-optical microscopy, such as Kerr or Faraday effect microscopy, provide many advantages to fields of science and technology for measuring, or imaging, the magnetization structures and magnetization domains of materials. Disclosed is a method and system for performing sub-diffraction limited magneto-optic microscopy. The method includes positioning a microlens or microlens layer relative to a surface of a sample to image the surface of the sample, forming a photonic nanojet to probe the surface of the sample, and receiving light reflected by the surface of the sample or transmitted through the sample at an imaging sensor. The methods and associated systems and devices enable sub-diffraction limited imaging of magnetic domains at resolutions 2 to 8 times the classical diffraction limit.Type: GrantFiled: June 30, 2020Date of Patent: October 18, 2022Assignee: UCHICAGO ARGONNE, LLCInventors: Suzanne Gabriƫlle Everdine te Velthuis, Michael Claus Siegfried Vogel, Axel Friedrich Hoffmann

Patent number: 11440545Abstract: A control system for a motor vehicle having a first control unit for controlling a first function of the motor vehicle and a second control unit for controlling a second function of the motor vehicle. In order to ensure, with the least possible additional complexity, that functions of a motor vehicle that are controlled by means of control units are properly executed even in the event of a faulty control unit, the control system has a third control unit for controlling the first function and the second function of the motor vehicle and, depending on the receipt of a fault signal of the first and/or second control unit by the third control unit, the third control unit can be configured such that the motor vehicle first and/or second function corresponding to the faulty control unit can be controlled by means of the third control unit alone.Type: GrantFiled: April 13, 2020Date of Patent: September 13, 2022Assignee: Hella GmbH & Co. Patent number: 11400951Abstract: A control system for a motor vehicle, including a first control unit for controlling a first function of the motor vehicle, a second control unit for controlling a second function of the motor vehicle and a backup control unit. To ensure the proper execution of functions controlled of a motor vehicle controlled with the aid of control units even in the case of a defective control unit with preferably little additional effort, the backup control unit is configurable depending on the input of an error signal of the first or second control unit such that an actuator corresponding to the defective control unit is controllable with the aid of the backup control unit. A first backup power electronic module is assigned to the first actuator, and a second backup power electronic module is assigned to the second actuator.Type: GrantFiled: November 23, 2020Date of Patent: August 2, 2022Assignee: Hella GmbH & Co. Patent number: 9496704Abstract: A first protective device monitors a first section of a power supply network for a symmetrical short-circuit and a second protective device monitors a second section for a symmetrical short-circuit. The second protective device is a reserve protective device, which emits a shut-off command to a power switch after a time lag when a symmetrical short-circuit in the first section is recognized. An oscillation recognition unit emits an oscillating signal which blocks the shutoff command if an oscillation in the power supply network has been recognized. External symmetrical short-circuits can be disconnected independently of an occurring oscillation, when the second protective device has recognized a symmetrical short-circuit in the first section, before the oscillation recognition unit recognizes an oscillation in the power supply network, the shut-off command is emitted independently of the presence of an oscillating signal if the lag time has elapsed.Type: GrantFiled: May 6, 2011Date of Patent: November 15, 2016Assignee: Siemens AktiengesellschaftInventors: Joerg Blumschein, Michael Claus, Volker Henn, Matthias Kereit, Gustav Steynberg, Yilmaz Yelgin

Method for dynamically switching analyses and for dynamically switching models in circuit simulators
Patent number: 8959008Abstract: Performing a transient analysis with a compact FET model that is predominantly intended for DC analysis, such as an IDDQ leakage model, to enable toggling logic states in sequential logic circuits that cannot otherwise be examined in a DC analysis. An embodiment enables examining the DC or AC conditions of any logic state of any logic circuit in a DC or AC analysis, and additionally, it eliminates a potentially long execution time of a transient analysis with a DC model. Further solved is the present need to run two simulations and to maintain two netlists in order to overcome being unable to toggle certain logic states in the DC analysis. The invention achieves the aforementioned in a single simulation with a single netlist that calculates the DC operating circuit conditions with a model A on the fly at predetermined times or in certain logic states, during a transient analysis with a model B.Type: GrantFiled: February 9, 2011Date of Patent: February 17, 2015Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Michael Claus Olsen, Jie Deng, Terence B.
