  • Patent number: 7438099
Abstract: A safety support includes a substantially cylindrical base configured to conform to the rim. The support further includes a crown with a radially outer wall configured to enter into contact with an internal wall of a crown of the tire in the event of a loss of pressure and to leave clearance therebetween at the rated operating pressure of the tire. The safety support further includes an annular body linking the base and the crown of the support. An envelope of the radially outer wall of the support crown is defined, when the support is mounted on the rim, with f being the deflection undergone by the support mounted on the rim under a load Z, the rated load of the tire, the envelope being confined between two cylinders of revolution of radius Rmax and Rmin satisfying the following relationship: 0.2f<Rmax?Rmin<2f.

  • Patent number: 7347236
Abstract: A support for a tire tread band comprising an outer portion for contacting a tread and a base, wherein the base comprises a reinforcement framework having at least two plies of reinforcement elements. Each of the plies has mutually parallel reinforcement elements, and said elements are crossed from one ply to a next ply. The support further comprising a polymer material having a modulus greater than 30 MPa.

  • Publication number: 20060260729
Abstract: A safety support adapted to be mounted on a rim within a tire fitted on a vehicle, to support the tread of the tire in the event of a loss of inflation pressure. The safety support includes a substantially cylindrical base adapted to be fitted around the rim; a substantially cylindrical crown adapted to come into contact with the tread in the event of a loss of pressure, and leaving a clearance relative to the tread at rated pressure; an annular body for connecting the base and the crown. The support is produced, at least in part, by axially assembling a number of annular sections, such that each of the annular sections includes, regularly distributed over the circumference, connecting walls of substantially axial orientation extending at least over part of the annular body and adapted to cooperate with the connecting walls of the adjacent annular section(s) in order to axially assemble the annular sections.

  • Publication number: 20060237111
Abstract: A safety support for mounting on a rim inside a tire fitted on a vehicle to support a tread of the tire in the event of a loss of inflation pressure. The safety support includes a substantially cylindrical base configured to conform to the rim.

  • Publication number: 20050173038
Abstract: Wheel rim whose radially exterior geometry comprises an outer and an inner rim seat, a bearing surface formed essentially as a cylinder of revolution to receive a tire tread support ring, and whose radially interior geometry does not increase between the said mounting groove and the zone of connection to a wheel disc, which is made up by assembling a first, metallic structure constituting the radially interior geometry of the said rim and at least part of the radially exterior geometry of the said rim; and a second structure designed to constitute the said bearing surface radially on the outside, wherein the said second structure consists of an annular support element comprising at least one essentially axial opening and which comes in contact with the radially outer wall of the said first, metallic structure.
