Abstract: In various embodiments, systems and methods are disclosed for rapidly generating tetrahedral volumes using centerlines in character animation. The volumes are generated to closely approximate bounding volumes that provide rapid collision detection while at the same time conforming to the original mesh surface. Therefore, more accurate and higher quality collisions are achieved using the original surface in real-time and without using a proxy/simulation.

Abstract: This disclosure relates to methods and systems for generating deformers that allow nondynamic objects, such as representations of skin, to appear to slide on a target surface. Computer simulations can be inflexible when it comes to creative input and also introduces extra time into the production process. One or more controls (e.g., a slider or a dial) can be generated based on a weight map and a direction field of an irregular surface that allow the user to slide nondynamic objects, such as representations of skin, on the surface facilitating computer-generated animation.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and articles of manufacture are disclosed for creating posed models. In various embodiments, deformations resulting from posing a model can be represented in a set of training poses. The sets of training poses for the model and a desired target pose (e.g., a simulated or sculpted pose) can be used to create a final pose for the model. Arbitrary deformer activation weights can be determined by projecting a target pose onto the set of training poses. The deformer activation weights can be applied to one or more deformers to approximate the desired pose.
