  • Publication number: 20060211357
Abstract: A chimney cap that permits compact storage and quick installation is described. The chimney cap is at least partially hinged, which permits the cage to be quickly set up from a folded condition. This is accomplished by hingeably coupling the sides of the cage to the bottom of the cage. The sides are coupled together by inserting a pin into concentric knuckles formed when corresponding edges are joined together. The folded product may be stored for transport or sale in a substantially flat box.

  • Publication number: 20050269796
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for controlling power hop in a Hotchkiss-type vehicle suspension having a live axle housing supported by a left and right suspension leaf spring, through the use of a pair of half-leaf springs adapted for operative attachment at a rear end thereof to the left and right terminal ends respectively of the axle housing, and a damping device adapted for operative attachment between a chassis of the vehicle and the rear axle housing. The half-leaf spring members extend longitudinally in a forward direction, below and generally in vertical alignment with their respectively associated suspension leaf spring, and are spaced therefrom, with the forward end of each half-spring member including a snubber for contacting a lower surface of the associated suspension leaf spring and terminating below and adjacent the forward end of its respectively associated suspension leaf spring.

  • Publication number: 20050229923
Abstract: A chimney liner adaptor is provided to allow air to flow between the outside environment and an annular space in a lined chimney flue. The adaptor may allow an air cooling system to operate but prevents undesirable elements from entering the annular space. The liner adaptor may be disposed between the chimney cap and the top walls of the chimney system and around the chimney liner. The adaptor may include perforated material, such as an expanded metal mesh, a metal screen, stamped metal screen, rugged netting, or the like. The perforated material permits gas flow, provides structural support for other elements of the adaptor, and filters out undesirable objects from entering the chimney.

  • Patent number: 5160217
Abstract: A method of removing volatile contaminants from a layer of contaminant lying on the top of a water table and in an unsaturated zone including opening a hole into the unsaturated zone and downwardly to at least the top of the layer of contaminant, positioning the end of a solid, air impermeable hollow pipe into the hole and adjacent to air permeable fill material, establishing an airtight seal around the pipe at the hole, reducing the pressure in the pipe in the hole to cause air and contaminant vapors to flow along the layer of contaminant and through the unsaturated zone and into the hole and through the air permeable fill material, and removing air and contaminant vapors from the hole through the pipe.

  • Patent number: 5106232
Abstract: Decontamination is provided by establishing a borehole into the vadose zone, introducing porous fill material into the borehole, positioning a hollow conduit into the borehole, and applying suction to the conduit and the borehole to reduce pressure and cause air and contaminant vapors to move through the vadose zone and into the borehole and through the porous fill material contained therein.
