Patent number: 9937047Abstract: A mold for forming a prosthesis is disclosed. The mold can include a stem portion, a head portion, and a securement assembly. The stem portion and the head portion can be provided in a kit having a variety of different interior dimensions so that a user can select or customize a mold cavity size based on the dimensions of a particular implant site of a patient. While a set of stem portions and head portions can have interior dimensions of varying sizes, each of the stem portions and each of the head portions can have the same or similar exterior dimensions for attachment using a common securement structure. Related methods are also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: December 6, 2012Date of Patent: April 10, 2018Assignee: Zimmer, Inc.Inventors: Christopher J. Holt, Michael Cordonnier, Dimitri Protopsaltis, William Daniel, Amber Lenz, Terrance Strohkirch, Philip Gilbert

Publication number: 20170056134Abstract: Dental abutments comprising machined apical portions and additively formed coronal portions and related methods are described herein. The abutment has a machined apical portion and additive manufactured coronal portion for supporting a dental prosthesis. The apical portion has a main body having a top surface, an opposed bottom surface, and a screw-machined implant interface extending from the bottom surface that can be matingly engageable with a corresponding interface receptacle disposed in a dental implant. The coronal portion is additively formed from a second material on the top surface of the main body of the apical portion.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 26, 2016Publication date: March 2, 2017Inventor: Michael Cordonnier

Patent number: 9433506Abstract: A prosthetic mold for forming a prosthesis is disclosed. The prosthesis can include a bone mating surface, an articulating surface, and an intermedullary post. The prosthetic mold can include a first portion, a second portion engageable with the first portion, and an injection portion. The first portion can be configured to form the articulating surface. The second portion can be configured to form the bone mating surface and define an intermedullary post cavity. Engagement between the first and second portions can define a mold cavity. The injection port can be axially aligned, and in communication, with the intermedullary post cavity. The injection port can engage an injection assembly. In one embodiment, the prosthetic mold is configured to form a tibial prosthesis. In another embodiment, the prosthetic mold is configured to form a femoral prosthesis.Type: GrantFiled: May 2, 2013Date of Patent: September 6, 2016Assignee: ZIMMER, INC.Inventors: Matthew J. Lomicka, Charlie Barfield, Michael Cordonnier, Dimitri Protopsaltis, Stephen Lingeman, William Daniel, Terrance Strohkirch, Amber Lenz

Publication number: 20130184749Abstract: An implantable cervical plate assembly includes a cervical plate, one or more bone fasteners and a driver tool. The cervical plate comprises an elongated asymmetric body having one or more through-openings extending from the front surface to the back surface of the elongated asymmetric body. The one or more bone fasteners are configured to be inserted through the one or more through-openings, respectively. The bone fasteners comprise a threaded main body and a head that includes one or more flexible structures configured to be flexed and inserted into a groove and then unflex and remain captured within the groove. The driver tool includes an elongated shaft, a handle and a bone fastener-engaging. The bone fastener-engaging component comprises one or more structures that complement and engage at least one of grooves and lobes of the bone fastener opening.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 5, 2013Publication date: July 18, 2013Applicant: SPINEFRONTIER, INCInventors: VITO LORE, CHRISTOPHER A. Publication number: 20110082506Abstract: An implantable cervical plate assembly for stabilization of two adjacent spinal vertebras includes a cervical plate and one or more bone fasteners. The cervical plate comprises an elongated asymmetric body having a first straight side surface, a second contoured side surface opposite to the first side surface, front and back surfaces and top and bottom surfaces. The elongated asymmetric body comprises one or more through-openings extending from the front surface to the back surface of the elongated asymmetric body. The one or more bone fasteners are configured to be inserted through the one or more through-openings, respectively, and to be attached to locations in the spinal vertebras, thereby attaching the cervical plate to the spinal vertebras. The through-openings comprise a first diameter at the front surface of the elongated body, a second diameter at the back surface of the elongated body and a third diameter in the area between the front and back surfaces of the elongated body.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 30, 2010Publication date: April 7, 2011Applicant: SPINEFRONTIER, INCInventors: VITO LORE, CHRISTOPHER A.
