The system includes an insulated enclosure having an access door and a humidification/dehumidification chamber enclosure arranged and disposed to provide humidification or dehumidification to the insulated enclosure. The system also includes a refrigerant loop having an enclosure evaporator, a dehumidification evaporator, at least one condenser, a variable speed compressor and piping for directing refrigerant from the variable speed compressor to the enclosure evaporator, the dehumidification evaporator, and the at least one condenser. An electrical heating element is arranged and disposed adjacent to the enclosure evaporator to selectively provide heat to at least a portion of the enclosure evaporator. A method for controlling the environmentally controlled chamber system is also disclosed.

    Abstract: A rotary medical device configured to be used to prepare a surgical site within a patient for affixing at least one fixation device via a rotary abrading element and a rotary drill bit, both of which are attachable to the same handpiece, is disclosed. By configuring the rotary medical device to operate both a rotary abrading element and a rotary drill bit, the need for a separate, single use drill and the time and human resources needed to disinfect and process the drill is eliminated, thereby saving time and cost. In at least one embodiment, the rotary medical device may include a first detachable system including a first abrading element attached to a first detachable hub, which is attachable to the handpiece, and a second detachable system including a first drill bit attached to a second detachable hub, which is also attachable to the handpiece.

    Abstract: The present invention is system and method for providing a self-calibrating pressure sensor. A pressure sensor apparatus comprises a diaphragm, at least one driving element operably coupled to the diaphragm configured to induce deflection in the diaphragm, and at least one strain gauge coupled to the diaphragm. The at least one strain gauge measures the deflection of the diaphragm. Typically, the driving elements will be piezoelectric drivers and will be operably coupled to the diaphragm. A method for evaluating a pressure sensor comprises inducing deflection in a diaphragm, measuring the deflection, determining the frequency-dependent response, calculating mechanical characteristics of the diaphragm from the frequency-dependent response, and calculating a response coefficient for the diaphragm based in part on said mechanical characteristics. The response coefficient is used to evaluate the sensor. The sensor can then be re-calibrated or self-calibrated based on the response coefficient.
