Publication number: 20250138129Abstract: The invention proposes a transmitter (such as a gateway or base station, both indoors and outdoors) that actively creates multiple virtual anchors which are associated with certain known reflectors by means of a code, to allow low-capability receivers to be localized more easily. By measuring propagation features, such as, e.g., timing of receipt, of three or more coded beams, low capability receivers—even those with only a single antenna—can be localized, e.g., by the transmitter or by the receivers themselves. The receivers might localize themselves if each beam includes e.g. the location of the anchors, the location of transmitter, and the sending time. This has the advantage that the receivers do not have to send any information back to the transmitter.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 11, 2022Publication date: May 1, 2025Inventors: Nicholas Walker, Timothy Beard, Vignesh Raja Karuppiah Ramachandran, Oscar Garcia Morchon, Harry Michael Cronin

Publication number: 20250093487Abstract: Systems and methods for providing sensing capability in a wireless communication system, wherein a part of the communication spectrum is configured for a period of time to enable performing sensing by establishing a distributed sensing system between a base station (100) or terminal device, as transmitter device, and a terminal device (120) or base station, as receiver device, in such a way that the lack of analogue signal exchange and the additional path length caused by the transmitter-receiver distance (and, in embodiments, the receiver-target distance) are corrected for, while parameters that need to be communicated are configured for the application required.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 15, 2022Publication date: March 20, 2025Inventors: Nicholas Simon Walker, Timothy Beard, Oscar Garcia Morchon, Walter Dees, Harry Michael Cronin

Publication number: 20250055762Abstract: The invention proposes systems and methods for testing on-device machine learning models such as network models of a device based on an access to normal input and output channels, wherein a structure of a model is designed through training such that the model produces distinctive outputs to a given set of test inputs only so long as its internal structure remains in a desired state. Models may be rendered susceptible to such testing via model pre-training with training inputs designed to train the model into an appropriate structure and/or to cause the model to produce a distinctive output if later presented with a certain set of test inputs. If the structure of the model remains within allowable limits, the device will produce a predictable output when tested. If not, the device may be enforced to return to a pre-trained model.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 16, 2022Publication date: February 13, 2025Inventors: Nicholas Simon Walker, Timothy Beard, Harm Cronie, Oscar Garcia Morchon, Walter Dees, Harry Michael Cronin

Publication number: 20240356625Abstract: The invention proposes a system and method for determining and controlling a reconfigurable relay device (e.g., a reconfigurable intelligent surface, RIS, or a smart repeater), wherein the reconfigurable relay device is registered and a wireless communication path is established from a network (e.g. access device) via the reconfigurable relay device to a terminal device. The network registers the reconfigurable relay device and determines parameters needed for its control. The control may be achieved by validated and accepted commands and queries. A relay state of the relay device may be set so that a beam for the wireless communication path is correctly redirected at the terminal device.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 25, 2022Publication date: October 24, 2024Inventors: Nicholas Walker, Timothy Beard, Esko Olavi Dijk, Oscar Garcia Morchon, Harry Michael Cronin, Walter Dees

Publication number: 20240273175Abstract: Introduced here are approaches to authenticating unknown persons based on variations in the spatial properties and directionality of blood flow through vessels over time. At a high level, these approaches rely on monitoring vascular dynamics to recognize unknown persons. For example, an authentication platform may examine digital images of an anatomical region to establish how a property of the vasculature within the anatomical region changed as a result of deformation. Examples of properties include the position, size, volume, and pressure of vessels included in the vasculature, as well as the velocity and acceleration of blood flowing through the vasculature.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 23, 2024Publication date: August 15, 2024Inventors: Christopher John Wright, David Michael Duffy, Harry Michael Cronin
