  • Publication number: 20190365517
Abstract: Embodiments of an instrument for retraction and suction during performance of an oral procedure are disclosed herein. In general, the instrument is profiled so as to operate as a retractor during use. Further, the instrument has a central passage and an end configured for attachment to a suction device. In this way, the instrument operates to provide suction for removal of, e.g., bone slurry, blood, saliva, debris, and irrigant, during an oral procedure. The suction is modulated using a port that remains uncovered when suction is not desired and that is covered by a user's finger when suction is desired.

  • Patent number: 8221316
Abstract: A combination suction retraction instrument for surgery is disclosed. The suction retraction instrument includes a retractor including a body, a suction nozzle secured to a distal end of the body, and means for retaining a suction tube adjacent the retractor. The suction tube is connected to a vacuum source for removing fluids and debris from a surgical site. The means for retaining the suction tube is secured to the body. The means for retaining the suction tube is structured to allow the suction tube to slide within the means for retaining the suction tube upon manual pulling of the suction tube by a surgeon. A proximal end of the suction nozzle is dimensioned to engage a distal end of the suction tube in a sealing relationship thereby providing a suction flow path from an opening of the suction nozzle into the suction tube.

  • Patent number: 7758526
Abstract: A hand and digit immobilizer prevents a patient from dislodging a pulse oximeter finger sensor by finger movement or fist clenching. In one form, the hand and digit immobilizer includes a glove body having a palm section and a back section defining a proximal opening for receiving a person's hand. The glove body has four finger base openings for receiving the fingers of the hand and has a thumb base opening for receiving the thumb. A finger covering section is connected to and extends away from each finger base opening. At least one finger covering section having a distal finger opening at its distal end. A rigid plate is secured to the palm section of the glove body and a palm side of each finger covering section such that clenching of the fingers is prevented thereby avoiding dislodging of a finger sensor from a fingertip.
