  • Patent number: 10135411
Abstract: In a communications system for an individual who has access to a vehicle-mounted two-way radio and a portable two-way radio which includes a speakermic having a speaker through which audible messages are transmitted for the individual to hear, there is provided a volume control arrangement associated with the speakermic through which the audio volume of the speakermic speaker can be adjusted. The system also includes a transmitter for transmitting a signal to the volume control arrangement that the individual is seated in the vehicle, and further includes a transmitter for transmitting a signal to the volume control arrangement that the mobile radio is energized. A receiver is associated with the volume control arrangement of the speakermic so that upon receipt of the signals transmitted from the two transmitters, the audio volume of the speaker of the speakermic is automatically lowered.

  • Publication number: 20180007480
Abstract: A communications system for use by an individual having access to a vehicle and one of a vehicle-mounted two-way mobile radio, a portable two-way radio and a vehicle-mounted public address (PA) system utilizes push-to-talk (PTT) switches and volume control arrangements which are mounted within the steering wheel of the vehicle so that the individual can operate the PTT switches and the volume control arrangements with one hand while both of his hands remain positioned about the steering wheel. In addition, microphones which are associated with the mobile radio, portable radio and the PA system are mounted along the headliner of the vehicle cabin.

  • Patent number: 9042944
Abstract: A communication system for a user having a helmet including earphones and a microphone and including a two-way radio and a microphone-including unit carried by the user and connected to the two-way radio includes a sensor for sensing the presence of the user's head within the helmet. A transmitter associated with the sensor transmits a wireless signal to the microphone-including unit which enables the microphone-including unit to wirelessly receive voice-carrying signals transmitted from the helmet microphone for conductance to the two-way radio and enables the microphone-including unit to wirelessly transmit voice-carrying signals which are received by the microphone-including unit from the two-way radio to the helmet earphones. In addition, helmet-carried componentry permits the user to simultaneously communicate through the two-way radio and a bluetooth enabled cell phone.

  • Patent number: 7203525
Abstract: A communication system for use by a helmeted rider of power sports equipment which enables the rider to control operating characteristics, such as the operating mode, of a microphone-including arrangement for a two-way radio or public address (PA) equipment while the rider maintains his grip about the handlebars of the power sports equipment for operation thereof. In addition, the microphone-including arrangement is supported entirely by the helmet of the rider, and the communication system does not involve any connecting wires which may otherwise extend between any components of the system which are carried by the rider and any components of the system which are carried by the power sports equipment.
