  • Patent number: 8393982
Abstract: A hunting arrow for tracking target animals is disclosed and described. The arrow can include a chamber. The arrow may also include a transmitter housing that is installable into the chamber. A pair of bores extending through the transmitter housing and chamber may be configured and adapted for receiving a pair of shear pins. The shear pins may secure the housing in the chamber. The transmitter housing may comprise an animal engagement member, such as a hook. The transmitter housing is ejected from the chamber when the arrow strikes a target animal and the hook stops the forward momentum of the transmitter housing with sufficient force to shear the shear pins, thereby ejecting and embedding the transmitter housing in the hide of the animal. The transmitter within the housing may broadcast the location of the animal to the hunter to enable easy tracking of the animal, if wounded.

  • Publication number: 20120220399
Abstract: A hunting arrow for tracking target animals is disclosed and described. The arrow can include a chamber having an angled surface and a compression fitting surface. The arrow can also include a transmitter housing having an angled surface and a compression fitting to securely house the transmitter within the chamber during flight. The transmitter may include removable parts, to enable reuse of the transmitter, including but not limited to: compression fittings, barbed hooks, an attachment assembly and a battery cover. The transmitter is ejected from the chamber when the arrow strikes a target animal and the one or more barbed hooks stops the forward momentum of the transmitter with sufficient force to overcome the friction between the compression fitting and the compression fitting surface within the chamber, thereby ejecting and embedding the transmitter in the hide of the animal.

  • Patent number: 5188373
Abstract: A hunting arrow especially adapted to release a transmitter into a quarry animal to enable location of the quarry after having been shot. Preferably, the transmitter is secured to the hide of the quarry without substantial penetration into the animal. The device is particularly useful in the event that the hunting arrow passes completely through the quarry, or if imbedded therein is broken off or pulled out by the quarry. The arrow may be provided in two slidably engaged parts, with the transmitter releasably retained therein. An attachment device may be provided to remove the transmitter from the arrow and attach it to the quarry. Alternatively, the transmitter may be releasably secured to the outside of the arrow and released upon impact with the target animal.

  • Patent number: 4907742
Abstract: An impulse sprinkler includes a base and a main body having a nozzle for dispensing water. The main body also includes a frame defining a window. The main body is pivotably mounted on the base so that the main body can rotate about a vertical axis. The sprinkler further includes an impulse arm for deflection by water dispensed by the nozzle with the impulse arm being pivotably mounted on the main body so that the arm extends through the window and is also rotatable about a vertical axis. A spring is positioned in the window for biasing the impulse arm to a position where it will be deflected by water from the nozzle. The sprinkler also includes an elongate deflector pivotably carried by the main body so that the deflector can rotate about a horizontal axis. This deflector is of one-piece molded construction and has a deflector head overlying the nozzle, a tail for grasping by the user, and an intermediate portion supported by the main body.
