Patent number: 9123458Abstract: An electrical power cable includes a central support or a ground conductor surrounded by an insulating material layer. An inner grounded shield is disposed on the support or on the ground conductor. A plurality of insulated line conductors and a plurality of insulated neutral conductors are circumferentially disposed in an annular arrangement about an insulation layer on the inner shield. The plurality of line and neutral conductors are disposed in various alternating single, double or triple conductor groups. The total cross-sectional area of all of the line conductors or all of the neutral conductors is substantially equal to the total cross-sectional area of a single large conductor of equivalent ampere rating. An outer shield is disposed about the line and neutral conductors and covered by an outer insulating layer.Type: GrantFiled: June 9, 2009Date of Patent: September 1, 2015Assignee: Essential Sound Products, Inc.Inventor: Michael D. Griffin

Patent number: 7984805Abstract: A medical apparatus whose purpose it is to permanently retard future use of a medical apparatus, in particular needles, preventing accidental exposure to contaminated sharps. It facilitates the possible removal of medical devices from their respective holders, while preventing possible contaminated discharge of fluids located along the anterior or exterior walls of needles or exterior of medical sharps. This medical apparatus provides for single handed use which complies with OSHA guidelines, and its advanced design facilitates the more common shorter medical needles to which non-medical users are accustomed as well as the wide range of needles that medical professional use. This apparatus is easier to manufacture, shorter in stature that allows for its inclusion in the already overcrowded medical trays used by today's medical personnel, in particular, emergency medical technicians.Type: GrantFiled: August 31, 2005Date of Patent: July 26, 2011Assignee: Griff Industries IncInventors: Rodolfo Gaba, Michael D Griffin

Patent number: 6341665Abstract: An aerial work platform apparatus includes a shiftable counterweight which shifts in response to movement of the boom in order to maintain optimum balance of the apparatus during movement of the boom and platform. The counterweight shifts towards and away from the front of the apparatus, and also in a vertical direction. Several constructions for shifting the counterweight are disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: September 13, 1999Date of Patent: January 29, 2002Assignee: Grove U.S. L.L.C.Inventors: Michael Z. Zhou, Robert D. Patent number: 5864094Abstract: An electrical power cable includes a central ground conductor surrounded by an insulating material layer. An inner grounded shield is formed on the surface of the ground conductor or between the ground conductor and line and neutral conductors. A plurality of insulated line conductors and a plurality of insulated neutral conductors are circumferentially disposed in an annular arrangement about an insulation layer on the inner shield. The plurality of line and neutral conductors are each disposed circumferentially side-by-side in separate groups of line and neutral conductors. The total cross-sectional area of each group of line conductors and neutral conductors is substantially equal to the total cross-sectional area of a single large conductor of equivalent ampere rating. An outer shield is disposed about the line and neutral conductors and covered by an outer insulating layer.Type: GrantFiled: December 19, 1996Date of Patent: January 26, 1999Inventor: Michael D. Patent number: 4576762Abstract: A throttle return spring assembly having inner and outer torsion springs contained between end housings is preassembled and then mounted as a unit about a throttle body shaft.Type: GrantFiled: March 11, 1985Date of Patent: March 18, 1986Assignee: General Motors CorporationInventors: Michael D. Griffin, Ronald A. Waydelis

Patent number: 4509720Abstract: A throttle valve shaft projecting from a boss on an internal combustion engine throttle body has a nut which is adjustable for establishing a selected clearance between the nut and the boss to thereby limit end float or axial displacement of the shaft. A lever or other retainer secured to the shaft has an interfering engagement with the nut to prevent rotation of the nut about the shaft and thereby maintain the selected clearance between the nut and the boss.Type: GrantFiled: July 7, 1983Date of Patent: April 9, 1985Assignee: General Motors CorporationInventors: Michael D. Griffin, John A. Gural, Donald J. Lamirande

Patent number: 4476068Abstract: A drive lever mounted adjacent a throttle shaft is connected through a link to a throttle lever secured to the throttle shaft. The link is contorted to initially engage the throttle lever at a location which provides a large lever arm for initial throttle opening movement and to thereafter engage the throttle lever at a location which provides a smaller lever arm for subsequent throttle opening movement. The link further engages the throttle lever in a manner which assures throttle closing movement of the throttle lever over the entire range of throttle closing movement of the drive lever.Type: GrantFiled: October 5, 1983Date of Patent: October 9, 1984Assignee: General Motors CorporationInventors: Michael D. Griffin, Donald J. Lamirande

Patent number: 4441522Abstract: A fluid swivel is described, of the type which includes an annular chamber formed at the interface between the stationary and rotatable parts of the swivel, which facilitates the passage of a pig through the chamber. A pig diverter device lies beside the outlet formed in one of the parts through which fluid normally exits the chamber, to divert a pig moving through the chamber into the outlet. The diverter device can include a projection lying on the downstream side of the outlet. The projection can extend radially only up to the interface between the two swivel parts, to facilitate disassembly of the swivel. The diverter device can also include a valving mechanism that can shut off fluid flow immediately downstream of the outlet, to direct the fluid stream and pig into the outlet, and the upstream end of the outlet can extend tangent to the chamber to facilitate pig entry therein.Type: GrantFiled: November 7, 1980Date of Patent: April 10, 1984Assignee: Amtel, Inc.Inventor: Michael D.
