Publication number: 20160059989Abstract: An isolation system for a transportation pallet, a transportation pallet, and a method of providing an isolation system are provided. The isolation system comprises a plunger assembly comprising a graduated surface area having a first end with a relatively smaller surface area than a second end having a relatively larger surface area. The isolation system further comprises a cushion pad coupled to the plunger assembly such that when a load is applied to the plunger assembly, the plunger assembly is pressed into the cushion pad to cause the cushion pad to bear the load over a surface area of the plunger assembly corresponding to the magnitude of the load. When the load is increased, a larger surface area of the plunger assembly and the cushion pad supports the load and as the load decreases, a smaller surface area of the plunger assembly and cushion pad supports the load.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 9, 2014Publication date: March 3, 2016Inventors: Kenton C. Patent number: 8923284Abstract: An approach for providing multi-user access to a packet switched network via a shared Ethernet-based local area network (LAN) is disclosed. Multiple end user stations are connected to the LAN, in which each of end user stations executes a communication software that is based upon a communication protocol (e.g., Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP)), which establishes a point-to-point communication session. In addition, each of the end user stations selectively encapsulates the communication protocol packets using the Ethernet-based based LAN protocol. Further, attached to the LAN is a customer premise equipment (CPE), which transmits the encapsulated packets to a line terminating equipment, which according to one embodiment is a digital subscriber line (DSL) access multiplexer that is located in a central office. The line terminating equipment transports the multiple PPP sessions to a multiplexer/demultiplexer, which is located within a regional carrier's network.Type: GrantFiled: March 9, 2005Date of Patent: December 30, 2014Assignee: Verizon Patent and Licensing Inc.Inventors: Michael D. Publication number: 20140101046Abstract: Systems, methods, and articles of manufacture capable of approving financial transactions are disclosed. An on-line merchant may store consumer transaction account information. The merchant may transmit an authorization request with an indicator that indicates that a consumer has logged into their account. A transaction account issuer may detect the indicator and determine that the authorization request has a lower fraud risk. The transaction account issuer may approve the authorization request and transmit an authorization response to the merchant.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 9, 2012Publication date: April 10, 2014Applicant: American Express Travel Related Services Company, Inc.Inventor: Michael D. Patent number: 7370223Abstract: In clusters of multiprocessor systems it is important that these processor nodes are aware of each others availability and performance capabilities. In highly available systems using these multiprocessor systems there needs to be a method to dynamically bring nodes both into the cluster and to remove nodes out of the cluster. The processor node that is responsible for these actions is designated the manager node (50). The manager node has a pre-selected backup to assume this responsibility upon the inability of said manager node to fulfill its duties. To allow the cluster of nodes to communicate with each other efficiently there needs to be a distributed messaging system that allows for the rapid distribution of data messages among the cluster nodes.Type: GrantFiled: August 17, 2001Date of Patent: May 6, 2008Assignee: Goahead Software, Inc.Inventors: Gregory A. Patent number: 7336177Abstract: A RFID related system and method for tracking articles that are not individually labeled with RFID tags. A transporter with an RFID reader identifies a carrier with an RFID tag as it is disposed onto the transporter. The location and/or number of the disassociated articles, once removed or otherwise disassociated with the carrier are transmitted to a computer on the transporter. Tagged carriers that continue to have articles associated therewith are removed from the transporter and placed back into storage. The computer may transmit data regarding the carrier and articles to a database.Type: GrantFiled: August 25, 2005Date of Patent: February 26, 2008Assignee: Kimberly-Clark Worldwide, Inc.Inventors: John C. Patent number: 7228453Abstract: This computer implemented software invention supervises networked system resources with the goal of maximizing service availability, providing on-demand and uninterrupted access to service, and minimizing the down time due to failures. It is a cluster-wide solution that co-ordinates the states and activities of resources, assigns availability roles, implements recovery from failures, and implements overall system policy. To do this, it maintains a system model of the system's physical and logical configuration and models the resources using managed objects that provides an extensive representation of the states, roles, and relationships of the systems resources.Type: GrantFiled: October 15, 2001Date of Patent: June 5, 2007Assignee: GoAhead Software, Inc.Inventors: Michael D. Patent number: 6986133Abstract: A system (FIG. 1) for upgrading deployed networked devices (4,6,8,10,12,14,16). The devices are enabled with an installed agent (FIG. 2 left) that can identify and communicate with a server (22) running the upgrade program. When the appropriate conditions are met the server downloads the upgrade to the agent that then installs the upgrade onto the deployed device. The device is made capable of polling the server to see if an upgrade is available, or, in the alternative, the server can locate the device, query the state of the device and, when the appropriate predetermined conditions are met, download the upgrade to the device.Type: GrantFiled: April 13, 2001Date of Patent: January 10, 2006Assignee: GoAhead Software Inc.Inventors: Michael D.
