  • Patent number: 7790181
Abstract: Live attenuated Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) vaccines that outperform the PE-6 vaccine in mice aerosol challenged with >1,000×LD50. Candidates include four furin-cleavage deletion mutants and one E3 deletion mutant. Each vaccine provided protection in birds against antigenically distinct North and South American strains of EEE. The PE-6 vaccine does not provide protection against South American EEEs. Animals inoculated with each of the vaccines of the invention developed neutralizing antibodies to EEE.

  • Publication number: 20070224131
Abstract: Pet chew articles comprising a consumable body having a shape defined by an exterior surface and comprising a main portion and at least one protrusion extending therefrom with the proviso that the shape of the body is such that no point in the interior of the body is more than about 0.2 inch (? inch) from the portion of the exterior surface nearest to the point. As a result, any pieces of the article that are ingested by a consuming animal are small enough that they will not become lodged within the animal's digestive tract. Also a method for improving the dental health of animals comprising chewing or eating by an animal of such an article.

  • Patent number: 6296854
Abstract: A live attenuated Venezuelan equine encephalitis virus (VEE) is described which comprises a viral gene rearrangement. This rearranged attenuated virus is useful as vaccine for protection against infection with VEE. Methods of preparing the virus and methods of using the virus are described.

  • Patent number: 6261570
Abstract: cDNAs coding for an infectious Western Equine Encephalitis virus (WEE) and infectious Venezuelan Equine Encephalitis virus variant IE (VEE IE) are disclosed in addition to cDNA coding for the structural proteins of Venezuelan Equine Encephalitis virus variant IIIA (VEE IIIA). Novel attenuating mutations of WEE and VEE IE and their uses are described. Also disclosed are attenuated chimearic alphaviruses and their uses.

  • Patent number: 5557876
Abstract: A tubular fishing rod holder capable of being used from a bank of a body of water or from a boat. The fishing rod holder having a rearward end, a mounting portion and a holding portion, wherein the holding portion is adapted to accommodate the handle portion of, for example, spinning, spin casting or bait casting fishing rods. The mounting portion comprises a top receiving hole, a bottom receiving hole and a side cut out portion connecting the top and bottom receiving holes, wherein the top receiving hole is positioned further away from the rearward end than the bottom receiving hole such that the side cut out portion is preferably formed at a 45.degree. angle. The mounting portion allows the fishing rod holder to be removably mounted to a support in a cantilevered arrangement so that the fishing rod holder will position a fishing rod with easy reach of a fisherman.
