  • Patent number: 9324193
Abstract: A method for reporting aircraft data is described that includes receiving, at a processing device, data relating to a condition experienced during operation of the aircraft, determining a cost relevance for the data, comparing, with the processing device, the cost relevance for the data to a threshold, transmitting the data to an end user system if the cost relevance exceeds the threshold, and storing the data in a memory if the cost relevance does not exceed the threshold.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 8, 2011
Date of Patent: April 26, 2016
    Assignee: The Boeing Company
Inventors: Michael D. Sudolsky, Jeanne C. Maggiore
  • Patent number: 8849475
Abstract: A system and method for sensor management is provided. The system includes a plurality of sensors, and a sensor controller node communicatively coupled to the plurality of sensors, said sensor controller node configured to dynamically task data collections and communications with at least one of the plurality of sensors.

  • Patent number: 6115656
Abstract: A method for recording and reporting fault information pertaining to various components of an aircraft. The method involves recording a diverse plurality of information output from various line replaceable units (LRU's) and other components of the aircraft during takeoff, flight and landing through the use of a bulk storage device, such as an optical quick access recorder (OQAR), on an electronic medium. The electronic medium is then removed from the aircraft after landing and read by an appropriate apparatus. From this information a service technician is able to determine whether or not a fault indication recorded during flight is in fact a legitimate fault requiring the affected LRU to be removed from the aircraft for further diagnostic testing. The method significantly reduces the incidents of no-fault-found diagnostic test results and saves significant man hours which would otherwise be spent testing LRU's and other components which are in fact operating properly.
