  • Publication number: 20050014273
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of preparing an original sample (3) of biological origin with a view to detecting at least one component contained in it, whereby the original sample (3) is enclosed in a first container (1) and at least a part of this original sample (3) is transferred from the first container (1) into at least one reaction container, a reagent (9) or reagent mixture being placed beforehand in at least one of the reaction containers in order to prepare the original sample (3) and the component to be detected. In order to transfer at least a part of the original sample (3), two respective containers (1, 6) are connected to one another to form a closed, airtight system at least until at least the component(s) to be detected has (have) been rendered stable by reacting it (them) with the reagent (9) or reagent mixture at room temperature.

  • Publication number: 20040096034
Abstract: A reflector (5) for X-ray radiation (2, 3, 10, 11) which is curved in a non-circular arc shape, along a first cross-section (13) in a plane (XZ) which contains a x-direction, wherein the reflector (5) is also curved along a second cross-section (14) in a plane (YZ) which is perpendicular to the x-direction, is characterized in that the reflector (5) has a curvature along the second cross-section (14) which also differs from the shape of a circular arc. This makes the design of X-ray mirrors and the beam profile of reflected X-ray radiation more flexible, facilitates production of X-ray mirrors and at the same time provides high reflection capacity and good focusing properties for X-ray mirrors.

  • Patent number: 6647401
Abstract: A method of executing arithmetic operations in a data processing apparatus wherein first and second numbers having a main frame “e-mode format are converted to IEEE double format. Arithmetic operations are then performed using the first and second numbers in IEEE double format to form a result in IEEE double format. The IEEE double format result is then converted back to main frame e-mode format. The conversion of the first and second e-mode numbers to IEEE format includes a step of shifting a mantissa of each e-mode number by a single step of subtracting 2Nexp where Nexp is the exponent of the IEEE double under formation.

  • Patent number: 6516647
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of manufacturing the outer part of a constant velocity joint, the outer part having in the finished condition a hollow chamber with a cylinder-shaped inner wall, in which there are provided ball raceways (1c) which run obliquely of the cylinder axis and are inclined with respect to one another. First, a wobble press die (4) is axially introduced into a goblet-shaped preliminary workpiece (1a) for the outer part having a conically developing inner and outer wall and pre-formed ball raceways (1c) in the inner wall. The preliminary workpiece (1a) is pressed (drawing process) by means of the wobble press die (4), sitting on the floor of the hollow chamber, through an opening in an outer die (2), so that a drawing process is carried out in which the preliminary workpiece (1a) is so cold formed that the inner wall of the hollow chamber is given a cylindrical shape.

  • Patent number: 4909983
Abstract: A method of producing intermetallic phases from powdery ductile components that are mixed in a predetermined mixture ratio and are subsequently precompacted by cold pressing. Subsequently, the precompacted components are pressed, via compaction, to such an extent that the degree of deformation is greater than 80%; thereafter, the thus-produced material is thermally treated.
