  • Patent number: 11640420
Abstract: Embodiments disclose a method for automatic summarization of content. The method includes accessing a plurality of stories from a plurality of data sources for a predefined time. Each story is associated with a media item. The method includes plotting the plurality of stories over the predefined time for determining one or more peaks and extracting a set of stories from the one or more peaks. The method includes detecting one or more themes from the set of stories using LDA algorithm. Each theme is associated with a group of stories. The method further includes determining at least one subset of stories for each theme from the group of stories representing the set of stories in the one or more peaks using RBM algorithm. The method includes generating a summarized content for each user based on an associated user profile and the at least one subset of stories.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 7, 2021
Date of Patent: May 2, 2023
    Assignee: ZIGNAL LABS, INC.
Inventors: Adam Beaugh, Andras Benke, Jonathan R. Dodson, Michael Kramer, Felix Medina Wong, Alex Smith, Fabien Vives, Ali Zafarani, Michael David West

  • Patent number: 5874444
Abstract: Inhibition of the enzyme poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase can delay the onset of senescence and inhibitors of the enzyme can be used to treat diseases caused or exacerbated by cellular senescence.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 27, 1996
Date of Patent: February 23, 1999
    Assignee: Geron Corporation
    Inventor: Michael David West
  • Patent number: 5744300
Abstract: Identification of senescence-related genes can be accomplished by comparing mRNA expression between young and senescent cells. Probes complementary to such genes can be used to detect senescent cells and distinguish between young and senescent cells as well as in screens to identify compounds that alter expression levels of senescence-related genes.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 31, 1994
Date of Patent: April 28, 1998
    Assignee: Geron Corporation
Inventors: Maarten H. K. Linskens, Kenneth S. Hirsch, Bryant Villeponteau, Junli Feng, Walter Funk, Michael David West
  • Patent number: 5693474
Abstract: A method for predicting tumor progression and prognosing cancer comprises: (a) collecting a sample suspected of containing cancer cells; (b) analyzing the sample for telomerase activity; (c) correlating the activity with a standard level of telomerase activity; and (d) correlating a high telomerase activity with an indication of unfavorable prognosis and a low telomerase activity with a favorable prognosis.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 7, 1995
Date of Patent: December 2, 1997
Assignee: Board of Regents, University of Texas System
Inventors: Jerry Shay, Michael David West, Woodring E. Wright
