  • Patent number: 7239408
Abstract: A system and method of processing a print job of a customer before submitting the print job to at least one of a plurality of print providers includes defining a network communication link between the customer and a print processing system controller. The print processing system controller receives a data file for the print job from the customer via the network communication link and processes the data file to determine at least one document type for the print job.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: July 3, 2007
    Assignee: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.
Inventors: Michael Dean Whitmarsh, William Hertling
  • Patent number: 7139086
Abstract: A system and method of processing an image before printing of the image by a print provider includes defining a print processing system controller having a network communication link. The print processing system controller receives a print request and a data file for the image via the network communication link, and processes the print request and the data file to determine an appropriate application for the image.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 10, 2000
Date of Patent: November 21, 2006
    Assignee: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.
Inventors: Michael Dean Whitmarsh, William Hertling, Melanie M. Robertson
  • Patent number: 7042585
Abstract: A system and method of brokering a print job between a customer and a plurality of print providers includes defining a network communication link between the customer and a print brokering system controller having a printing capability of each of the print providers registered therewith. The print brokering system controller compares a print request for the print job with the printing capability of each of the print providers and determines which of the print providers have the printing capability to fulfill the print request. As such, the print brokering system controller compiles a list of the print providers which have the printing capability to fulfill the print request.

  • Patent number: 6944634
Abstract: A method of managing data files in a file caching server provides access to a plurality of stored data files. The method is to receive a request for a file, which is identified by a cryptographically secure checksum. The availability of the file is determined using the cryptographically secure checksum and, if said file is available, retrieving the file. If the file is not available to said file caching server, then a file request is issued to, and the file is retrieved from another file server where the file with the cryptographically secure checksum exists.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 24, 2002
Date of Patent: September 13, 2005
    Assignee: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.
