Abstract: A residual toner damming assembly is provided for use in a toner imaging machine having a moving toner image carrying surface and a cleaning blade for removing residual toner particles from the toner image carrying surface. The residual toner damming assembly includes (a) a sealing member for locating against the moving toner image carrying surface upstream of the cleaning blade relative to movement of the moving toner image carrying surface and (b) a damming device located against the sealing member and projecting in a residual toner capturing angle relative to the moving toner image carrying surface for capturing and accumulating a desired quantity of residual toner particles against the moving toner image carrying surface, thereby increasing a number of residual toner particles reaching and lubricating the cleaning edge of cleaning blade against the image carrying surface.
