  • Patent number: 10057789
Abstract: A wireless communications device is controlled in accordance with motion thereof. If the device is determined to be in motion, such as in a vehicle, use of the device is restricted. Discrimination between vehicular motion and ambulatory motion is provided. While in motion, use of the device can be allowed under specific exception conditions. Exception conditions include the device being used by a passenger of a vehicle, a 911 call, or a call to a designated number. The ability to control the device in accordance with motion thereof can be remotely activated and deactivated, thus allowing, for example, parental control of a device belong to a child.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 13, 2014
Date of Patent: August 21, 2018
    Assignee: AT&T Intellectual Property I, L.P.
Inventors: Joseph Blanda, Jr., Michael Demblewski

  • Patent number: 8819824
Abstract: A system to detect and analyze RF signals utilizes a data structure storing RF signatures indicating characteristics of known authorized and/or unauthorized RF transmissions. When an RF signal is detected, certain analysis characteristics are extracted from the RF signal and analyzed with respect to the stored RF signatures to determine whether the RF transmission is authorized or unauthorized. In the event of an unauthorized RF transmission, the system generates an alarm condition to alert the user to an RF intrusion and may further log data related to the intruder transmission. Known techniques may be used to determine the location of the RF intrusion within a defined area of operations.
    Type: Grant

    Assignee: AT&T Mobility II LLC
    Inventors: Bruce Christofferson, Michael Demblewski
  • Patent number: 8719941
Abstract: A method and apparatus for protecting a wireless communication network are disclosed. For example, the method identifies an infected mobile endpoint device via at least one audit by a mal-ware defense platform, and performs an anti-malware application update on the infected mobile endpoint device.
