    Abstract: Example embodiments relate to a lower power linearization of lidar signals. An example embodiment includes a method that includes receiving a sample value output by an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) in a processing unit of a lidar system. The ADC may be configured to digitize an optical signal that is compressed by a gain amplifier. The compression may be based on a transfer function comprising one or more linear portions. The method also includes comparing the sample value to one or more threshold values. The one or more threshold values may correspond respectively to the one or more linear portions. The method further includes selecting, for the sample value and based on the comparing, an inverse gain and an associated intercept. The method additionally includes linearizing the sample value based on the selected inverse gain and the associated intercept.

The system includes a broadband controller including a data processor and memory in which the broadband controller provides a network within the vehicle. The system includes a vehicle WAP in communication with the broadband controller in which the WAP broadcasts an SSID for use by a PED to establish a wireless communication link and transmit and receive data wirelessly over the network via the WAP. An SSID scanner periodically scans for SSIDs broadcast in the vehicle in which SSIDs detected during scans are communicated to the broadband controller. For a detected SSID corresponding to the vehicles WAP SSID, logic executed by the data processor compares the BSSID of the vehicle WAP with the BSSID from the detected SSID and if the BSSIDs do not match, the logic identifies a security threat.

    Abstract: A system and method for permitting a user to submit a payment electronically, which includes a network and an electronic device in communication. The electronic device is operated by the user to submit an electronic payment request. A first server in communication with the network receives the request and in response communicates an encryption key and process to the electronic device. The electronic device encrypts the financial information with the encryption key and process and communicates encrypted financial information to the first server. A second server is in communication with the first server at least some of the time via an Internet connection. If there is Internet connectivity, the first server communicates the encrypted financial information to the second server. If there is no Internet connectivity and the payment amount is less than a predefined amount, the first server communicates to the electronic device that the payment has been accepted.
