Abstract: An automated system and method for assisting in decision making for the treatment of stroke patients is provided, and specifically for assisting a physician whether the patient should be administered a drug or transferred to another hospital to undergo an endovascular thrombectomy procedure. A variety of factors are input into the system with limited human intervention and a tool automatically determines the probability of whether the patient will have a better outcome if transferred or not. The factors include clinical factors, imaging factors and time to transfer factors. The tool includes processes for automatically determining several imaging factors, including the determination of clot length, collateral blood flow, the presence of forward blood flow within and around the clot, and the clot permeability. • Publication number: 20200408163
Abstract: Methods of improving SCR performance in heavy duty vehicles may use multiple interdependent control techniques to increase engine exhaust temperatures in a fuel efficient manner. One method combines cylinder deactivation and mechanical loading of an engine by an electrical generator used to input energy into an exhaust stream to manipulate the exhaust temperature through the combined effect of modified air-to-fuel ratio and supplemental energy input. In particular, cylinder deactivation may be used to modify the engine air flowrate and the electric generator may be used to apply mechanical load on the engine to manipulate the engine fuel flow rate to control the engine air-to-fuel ratio and thereby increase exhaust temperatures. The exhaust temperatures may be further increased by using the electrical generator to add the energy generated as input energy to the exhaust stream.

  • Patent number: 10823128
Abstract: Systems and methods for managing or controlling an automatic engine restart system of a vehicle are provided herein. The method is operative to disable automatic engine restarts during specified restart inhibit periods to improve the comfort of the operator of the vehicle and others near the vehicle (e.g., during hoteling) or to satisfy regulations (e.g. silent area or green zone). During times outside of the specified restart inhibit periods, the method may control the automatic restarts to provide a determined level of charge for a rechargeable electrical energy source (e.g., battery) of the vehicle at a time just prior to the restart inhibit period so that the electrical energy source will be able to power various loads for an extended time during the restart inhibit period. The system includes a local or remote user interface that allows various parameters to be programmed. The system may also include an energy management system that optimizes the automatic restarts to achieve various goals.

  • Publication number: 20200326011
Abstract: Valve systems include a valve and a valve actuator assembly for operating the valve. The valve actuator assembly includes a first motor and a second motor mechanically coupled to an output of the valve actuator assembly via a differential gear system. The first motor, in operation, applies a first torque to the output via the gear system and the second motor, in operation, applies a second torque to the output via the gear system. The first and second torques are used to manipulate the valve. The first and second motors are operated independently or simultaneously in a first direction or a second direction that is opposite the first direction, in order to provide low speed and high torque when the valve is to be seated or unseated, and to provide high speed, low torque when moving the valve along its operational path.

  • Patent number: 10801921
Abstract: Systems and methods for improving fuel economy in vehicles such as Class 8 trucks are provided. In some embodiments, signals indicating states of the powertrain are collected and used to generate fuel rate optimization values. Fuel rate optimization values may indicate a difference between optimum fuel flow rates and actual fuel flow rates during a vehicle drive cycle. Recorded fuel rate optimization values may be used to compare different vehicle configurations during testing, and may also be used to evaluate vehicle performance during real-world operation.

  • Patent number: 10774469
Abstract: A fid is made of separate components that can be easily assembled and disassembled by the user. In this manner the fid components can be easily stored or transported and then assembled when needed to create a fid of sufficient length to splice a synthetic rope or other types of rope. The fid includes an elongate shaft or needle with a first that tapers to a point. The opposing end of the shaft may be machined to form a connection structure. A coupler may have an elongate form with two opposing ends along a center axis. One end of the coupler removable attaches to the needle at the connection structure. The second end of the coupler permanently attaches to a rope holder, which may take the form of a cylindrical, helically wound braid of thin wire cable forming a wire basket.

  • Publication number: 20200284307
Abstract: Valve systems include a valve and a valve actuator assembly for operating the valve. The valve actuator assembly includes a drive device and a hand wheel assembly that can independently be used to cause movement of the valve. An anti-back drive component is coupled to the output of the drive device, the hand wheel assembly, or both. The anti-back drive component includes a locking device and an unlocking device, each with respective protrusions that cooperate to define cavities that house pairs of springs and rollers. The shape and orientation of the cavities allows for rotation of the rollers in the cavities and the anti-back drive component by rotating the unlocking device, while preventing rotation of the rollers and the anti-back drive component via rotation of the locking device to selectively prevent rotation of the output of the drive device, hand wheel assembly, or both.
