  • Patent number: 10535323
Abstract: Various embodiments provide a user device comprising a touch screen display having a touch screen input; a proximity detector arrangement comprising a plurality of sensors for detecting a location of an input device; and a control unit comprising a processor. The control unit is configured to receive data from the proximity detector to determine the location of the input device, including a value related to the distance of the input device to the display; and control the display to perform a zoom function to enlarge or reduce the size of content on a portion of the display based on the value related to the distance of the input device to the display. The proximity detector arrangement and control unit are configured to detect the location of the input device within a detection volume and to provide a gradual variation in enlargement or reduction of the size of content as the distance of the input device to the display varies.

  • Patent number: 10036891
Abstract: A heads up display presents images to a user. A background is located behind the heads up display. The heads up display is operable to vary the transparency of the images such that images alone are viewable, the background is viewable through the images, or the background is viewable but the images are not. The heads up display may vary the transparency of the images by varying the transparency of a display screen. Alternatively, the heads up display may record the background using a visual recording element and may combine the recorded background with the images such to overlay the images over the recorded background. The, the display screen may display the images. Alternatively, the display screen may be a projection screen upon which an image projector projects the images. The heads up display may also include an illumination element that illuminates the background when not sufficiently illuminated.

  • Patent number: 9357251
Abstract: Disclosure is directed to commanding a content receiver by interpreting brainwave patterns that are captured from a user of the content receiver. The user's brainwave patterns may be captured by the use of a headset having a plurality of sensors that are disposed at various locations in proximity to the user's head. The content receiver may be operable to learn to recognize specific brainwave patterns for individual users. The content receiver may recognize a number of specific brainwave patterns for each user, each specific brainwave pattern corresponding to a specific command that is executable by the content receiver. When executing user commands, the content receiver may process an input stream from the headset and compare portions of the input stream to the recognized brainwave patterns in order to extract commands from the input stream. Following this, the extracted commands may be executed by the content receiver.

  • Patent number: 9332288
Abstract: A video processing system includes a video device that generates a request corresponding to video content. A conditional access module generates a video signal for transmission to the video device during a first time period, and terminates transmission of the video signal when the request is not authenticated during the first time period. In a further embodiment, the conditional access module generates a video signal for unscrambled transmission to the video device during a first time period, terminates the unscrambled transmission of the video signal at the expiration of the first time period, and continues with scrambled transmission of the video signal after the first time period.

  • Patent number: 9225932
Abstract: A method and system for media content playback and storage utilizes a set-top box including a processor and a storage device. The set-top box is in a system receiving media content which includes a display for displaying the received media content. On receipt, the received media content is associated with stored media content having a common title. A logical order for the received media content relative to the stored media content is determined, in accordance with a determined identifier. If it is determined that the received media content has been accessed for playback the received media content is automatically deleted after it has been played back.

  • Patent number: 9148679
Abstract: Processing video data for delivery to a remote wireless includes receiving video data from a video source and receiving position and motion information regarding the remote wireless device. Operation also includes, based upon the position and motion information regarding the remote wireless device, determining an anticipated Quality of Service (QoS) available for servicing of transmissions to the remote wireless device and determining video processing parameters based upon the video data and the anticipated QoS. Operation further includes processing the video data based upon the video processing parameters to produce an output video stream and transmitting the output video stream for delivery to the remote wireless device. Operation may also/alternatively include altering wireless transmission parameters of a transport stream servicing delivery of the video data to alter the anticipated QoS.
