Patent number: 12256829Abstract: An apparatus to facilitate lifting and carrying wire handled buckets has a lifting harness and a lifting tray. The lifting harness includes a grip and a connector. The connector connects the grip to the lifting tray. The grip is tubular and comfortable to grasp. The lifting tray is semi-circular in shape and has a notch on one end and is attached to the connector at the other end. In one embodiment, the connector is a cable and is attached with crimp sleeve to the grip and a spherical fitting to the lifting tray. Both the grip and the lifting tray are made of plastic. A method of carrying wire handled buckets includes placing the bucket handle in the lifting tray and holding the lifting tray with one hand and grasping the grip in the other hand to allow both sides of the body to directly engage the bucket's weight.Type: GrantFiled: July 13, 2021Date of Patent: March 25, 2025Inventor: Michael E Adams

Publication number: 20130270852Abstract: A supplemental handle device that involves both sides of the body in the act of carrying buckets of heavy loads. The device comprises a Hitching Bar, and a Grab Loop with a hand grip and a ring connecting the Bar and Loop. The Hitching Bar comprises: a front eyelet for attaching the ring; a middle aperture for sliding the Bar over the bucket handle; and a rear U-shaped element underneath the bucket handle and with the bail fitted snuggly between the two arms of the “U”. The Grab Loop is for the user's hand on the opposing side of the bucket. In use, the Hitching Bar's middle aperture passes over the bucket handle, and slides forward until the U-shaped element lies beneath the handle, locking the bail. By simultaneously pulling up on the Hitching Bar-handle unit with one hand, and the Grab Loop with the other, the bucket is raised.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 12, 2013Publication date: October 17, 2013Inventor: Michael E. Publication number: 20110259381Abstract: A pseudo-frustoconical shaped unitary rubber end unit for an ambulatory device, such as a cane, comprising, a bottom hexagonal base and a top circular rim, wherein said base is about four times the diameter of said rim and functions to provide significantly enhanced support and stability; and a central cylindrical “socket” created by six deeply recessed side walls and a resultant six member rib-like frame that functions to optimize device's shock absorption capabilities and forward propulsion of the user. The hexagonal base may be asymmetrical or symmetrical, and the ribs may be of uniform or non-uniform dimensions. The hexagonal base and the rib-like frame act synergistically to compress and rebound under loads creating a twisting “spring assist” action that both absorbs shock and helps propel users forward. The broad base has a slightly recessed underside permitting the mobility device to be self-standing.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 22, 2011Publication date: October 27, 2011Applicant: STRONGARM, INC.Inventor: Michael E Adams

Patent number: 7610926Abstract: A mobility device to provide ambulatory support includes a tubular body having upper and lower parts. The upper part has at least four, and preferably five, bends and includes a manually graspable handle portion between two of the bends, and a hook-shaped bend for engaging the user's forearm on three sides adjacent the elbow. An intermediate portion including another bend is positioned between two other bends, and is positioned between the handle portion and the bend located adjacent the user's elbow. The lower part includes a floor-engaging free end and defines an axis, preferably a generally vertical axis. The bends and other features of the upper part cooperate to provide improved support for a user's forearm. Also disclosed is a rocker-type end member either fixedly or slidably fitted to the lower part.Type: GrantFiled: May 17, 2007Date of Patent: November 3, 2009Assignee: StrongArm Inc.Inventor: Michael E. Patent number: 5831061Abstract: Unique ecdysis triggering hormone nucleic acid molecules and ETH peptides/proteins having biological activity for promoting ecdysis in insects are disclosed. Methods of preparing the peptides/proteins by recombinant means, and use of the peptide/proteins in an insect controlling agent are also provided. Methods of inducing ecdysis using the sequences encoding the ETH peptides/proteins are outlined. Insecticidal preparations that are specific to insects that shed their skin, and that do not pose an environmental threat to humans or animals, are also disclosed employing the nucleic and molecules and peptides and proteins they encode. Processes employing the ETH nucleic acid encoding sequences to identify ETH receptors are also defined. The ETH receptors are employed in screening assays to select organic molecules capable of binding the ETH receptor and inducing ecdysis and eclosion, particularly in insects.Type: GrantFiled: January 3, 1996Date of Patent: November 3, 1998Assignee: The Regents of the University of CaliforniaInventors: Michael E. Adams, Sarjeet S. Gill, Dusan Zitnan

Patent number: 5383584Abstract: An improved unitary molded foldable changer is provided for garments and the like. The hanger incorporates a pair of garment supporting arms which articulate between an outwardly extended opposed relationship and a lowered adjacent relationship about a hinge positioned between bottom portions of each arm shoulder. An upwardly arcuate elongated link is interconnected at each of its respective opposite ends through a hinge to a different respective one of the arm shoulder top portions which are in longitudinally spaced relationship to one another. The link further includes a mid-location hinge, and a latch assembly for cross connection, and an integral hook for engagement with a closet bar or the like. The link is so configured that, when the arms are in the extended and garment supporting position, the hook is suitably oriented and the latch assembly is engaged to lock the arms in the extended position.Type: GrantFiled: April 28, 1993Date of Patent: January 24, 1995Inventor: Michael E. Patent number: 5156429Abstract: The present invention relates to a utility handle for lifting, lowering, supporting and maneuvering articles. The device comprises a generally S-shaped handle including a front portion that is engageable with the article and a handgrip member to be grasped by the hand of the user and further including a rear portion that is engageable with the forearm of the user. The utility handle substantially transfers the load of any attached article from the user's wrist to his forearm, and through the elbow joint, to the user's upper arm muscles to facilitate handling of the article.Type: GrantFiled: September 11, 1991Date of Patent: October 20, 1992Inventor: Michael E. Patent number: 4988021Abstract: A collapsible clothes hanger molded in one piece of a flexible material has a pair of hanger arms which are moved from a collapsed position to an extended position by one hand exerting s squeezing force on the flexible connections between the pair of hanger arms and a pair of flexible links that extend between the hanger arms and a center support member. The bendable links, whose motion is restricted by the center support member, fold upon themselves and draw the hanger arms upward into the extended position. The squeezing force which moves the hanger arms into the extended position lies in a horizontal plane so that the hand of the user can remain in a natural position during extension of the arms to a desired garment-supporting position. The hanger of a preferred embodiment is automatically locked in the extended position once this position is reached. The lock is released by again a single hand exerting a squeezing force, also in a horizontal plane, so that the hanger arms may move the collapsed position.Type: GrantFiled: August 28, 1989Date of Patent: January 29, 1991Assignee: Michael E.
