  • Publication number: 20230126456
Abstract: An open application protocol for industrial equipment is disclosed. Disclosed techniques include: opening a connection between (a) an open application associated with a manufacturing execution system and (b) an instance of a data sharing interface operating on an industrial machine used in a surface mounting process, the open application being configured to communicate with any machine that implements the data sharing interface, regardless of machine type or manufacturer; discovering, by the open application via the connection, discoverable information associated with the industrial machine, the discoverable information including one or more of data items, events, commands, or alarms; and controlling, by the open application via the connection, operation of the industrial machine to control at least a portion of the surface mounting process.

  • Publication number: 20190174633
Abstract: A print head assembly of a stencil printer includes a print head frame and a wiper blade assembly coupled to the print head frame. The wiper blade assembly includes wiper blades that contact the stencil to print solder paste onto the stencil during a print stroke. The wiper blades are configured to force solder paste through the apertures of the stencil. The print head assembly further includes a dispensing unit coupled to the print head frame. The dispensing unit is disposed between the wiper blades to deposit solder paste between the wiper blades. The dispensing unit includes a cartridge receiver. The print head assembly further includes a cartridge positioned in the cartridge receiver and a sensor coupled to the print head frame proximate the cartridge. The sensor is configured to measure a temperature of the cartridge.

  • Patent number: 9060437
Abstract: A material applicator includes a printing device configured to deposit viscous material upon a circuit board, and a controller operatively coupled to the printing device. The controller is configured to control a plurality of system components, including an operating system component configured to operate the printing device, and a remote interface component configured to exchange printer operation data between the operating system component and at least one plug-in application. The plug-in application is configured to extend capabilities of the operating system component.

  • Publication number: 20140093638
Abstract: A dispensing system includes a frame, a dispensing unit gantry movably coupled to the frame, and a dispensing unit coupled to the dispensing unit gantry. The dispensing unit further includes a vision system gantry coupled to the frame and a vision system coupled to the vision system gantry. A controller is coupled to the dispensing unit gantry, the dispensing unit, the vision system gantry, and the vision system. The controller is configured to obtain an image of a fiducial provided on the electronic substrate, obtain an image of at least a portion of an object positioned on the electronic substrate, orient the object with respect to the dispensing unit, and perform a dispense operation to secure the object to the electronic substrate. Methods of dispensing material on a substrate are further disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20090255426
Abstract: An apparatus for depositing viscous material on an electronic substrate includes a frame, a dispensing unit coupled to the frame, and a substrate support assembly coupled to the frame. The substrate support assembly includes a plurality of support elements, a table coupled to the frame. The table has a support surface to support at least one support element of the plurality of support elements, and a marking device coupled to the frame. The apparatus further includes an imaging system coupled to the frame. The imaging system is configured to capture images of the support surface of the table. A controller is coupled to at least the marking device and the imaging system, and configured to manipulate the marking device to mark the support surface of the table on predetermined positions and to manipulate the imaging system to verify whether the marks on the support surface of the table are accurate. Embodiments of the apparatus and related methods are further disclosed.

  • Patent number: 5159878
Abstract: An offset lithographic printing unit (10) in a multi-unit printing press (35) includes a first register adjusting mechanism (80) and a second register adjusting mechanism (84). The first register adjusting mechanism (80) changes the surface speed of the plate cylinder (12) relative to the surface speed of the blanket cylinder (14) when the cylinders (12, 14) are being rotated in a printing operation. The second register adjusting mechanism (84) moves the plate cylinder (12) axially relative to the blanket cylinder (14) when the cylinders (12, 14) are being rotated in a printing operation. A controller (300) operates the first and second register adjusting mechanisms (80, 84) simultaneously when the cylinders (12, 14) are being rotated in a printing operation.
