  • Patent number: 11141616
Abstract: A combined capture and fire containment apparatus. The apparatus includes a telescoping rectangular prism-shaped hollow structure including a rectangular prism-shaped containment box and a rectangular prism-shaped lid portion. The lid portion is attached on opposing sides by telescoping drawer slides to the containment box. A sealing gasket is disposed on a peripheral edge of the prism-shaped lid portion to seal between the lid portion and the containment box. A latch is on an outside side portion of the lid and containment box to latch the lid portion and containment box in the closed position. A gas and fume collection filter in communication with an interior of the containment box is disposed in the lid portion. The lid portion contains a first handle disposed on an end portion of the lid portion. A second handle is disposed on a side portion of the containment box.

  • Patent number: 9578942
Abstract: A capture apparatus and method for safely picking up and moving a portable electronic device into a fire containment case. The apparatus includes a tray portion having a rectangular base, opposing sides orthogonal to the base, tapered rod attached to the rectangular base between the opposing sides, and slide rails attached to the opposing sides. A lid portion is also provided and includes five sides of a rectangular prism-shaped structure defining a cavity within the apparatus for holding the malfunctioning portable electronic device. The lid portion has a first handle on a first side end, a second handle on a cover portion orthogonal to the first side end, and opposing sides attached to the cover, the first side end and a second side end. The first side end and the second side end of the lid portion include slides for slidable engagement with the slide rails of the tray portion.

  • Patent number: 6458491
Abstract: The invention provides a separator for an energy cell which includes a compressible web made from a blend of elastomeric material and cross-linking agent, the elastomeric material being selected from natural rubber and a mixture of natural rubber and synthetic rubber. The blend is expanded, cast and cured to form a web containing micropores so that the resulting web comprises an open cell structure having a thickness ranging from about 40 to about 150 mils, an alcohol porosity of from about 45 to about 90% and a compressibility of at least about 20%. Lead-acid battery cells containing the separators have the advantage of significantly improved life as a result of the improved strength and resiliency of the separator.

  • Patent number: 6242127
Abstract: An improved separator for an energy storage cell is described which is made of a porous polyolefin matrix and contains from about 0.5 to about 30 dry weight percent particulate filler. The particulate filler is a cured, porous rubber material which enhances the electrochemical properties of the separator as compared to conventional polyolefin separators.
