Publication number: 20240103182Abstract: Techniques are provided for employing an embedded software defined radio (SDR) in a navigation system. A navigation system implementing the techniques according to an embodiment includes a global positioning system (GPS) receiver configured to acquire and track received GPS signals. The system also includes an SDR configured to process received communication signals. The communication signals include timing data. The SDR is further configured to calculate position and navigation data based on a combination of the processed communication signals and the tracked GPS signals provided by the GPS receiver. The system further includes a system timer configured to provide a common time base for use by the GPS receiver and the SDR. The navigation system is implemented in an application specific integrated circuit (ASIC).Type: ApplicationFiled: September 27, 2022Publication date: March 28, 2024Applicant: BAE SYSTEMS Information and Electronic Systems Integration Inc.Inventors: John E. Acheson, Michael N. Kloos, Nathaniel L. James, Mitchell Dennis

Patent number: 11399633Abstract: An adjustable mattress may have an inner spring core between a top and bottom cover. The bottom cover may have at least one section made of a stretchable material that stretches around the mattress as it bends. The stretchable cover reduces the stress on the inner core for the bending when adjusting the mattress. The inner core may be formed from a spring array surrounded by a foam perimeter rail. Sides of the foam perimeter rail may be formed from individual foam coils.Type: GrantFiled: March 15, 2019Date of Patent: August 2, 2022Assignee: HMC I.P. Holdings Inc.Inventor: Michael E. James

Publication number: 20200085201Abstract: A mattress has a perimeter rail having a head end, a foot end, and two sides, each having an inner surface, and at least two substantially parallel rectilinear sections. Each section comprises an array of springs whose tension is selected to provide a predetermined firmness for that section. Each adjacent pair of sections is urged into a spaced-apart relationship by a spacing means, where each spacing means comprises a flexible spacer. The flexible spacer restricts or substantially eliminates the translation of movements between the sections of the mattress, while avoiding the use of uncomfortable separation means.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 25, 2019Publication date: March 19, 2020Inventor: Michael E. James

Patent number: 10425275Abstract: A management node of a server maintains a database of configuration parameters that stores the individual configuration parameters for each compute node. In response to a boot request at a compute node, a configuration parameter control module at the node intercepts locally targeted requests to load configuration parameters. The configuration parameter module sends the requests to the management node and in response the management node sends configuration parameters responsive to the requests. The configuration parameter module provides the configuration parameters to the compute node, thereby emulating a local boot memory for the compute node.Type: GrantFiled: February 12, 2015Date of Patent: September 24, 2019Assignee: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.Inventors: Michael E. James, Justin R. Unger

Patent number: 10158530Abstract: A cluster computer server is configured after a system reset or other configuration event. Each node of a fabric of the cluster compute server is employed, for purposes of configuration, as a cell in a cellular automaton, thereby obviating the need for a special configuration network to communicate configuration information from a central management unit. Instead, the nodes communicate configuration information using the same fabric interconnect that is used to communicate messages during normal execution of software services at the nodes.Type: GrantFiled: August 18, 2014Date of Patent: December 18, 2018Assignee: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.Inventors: Michael E. James, Jean-Philippe Fricker

Patent number: 9806908Abstract: Each compute node of a cluster compute server generates and maintains route information for routing messages to other nodes of the server. Each compute node identifies the other nodes connected to a fabric interconnect and generates, based on a set of routing constraints, routes to each of the other nodes. Each compute node communicates messages to other nodes of the server via the generated routes. Because the routes are generated at each compute node the processing load to generate the routes is distributed among the compute nodes.Type: GrantFiled: February 12, 2015Date of Patent: October 31, 2017Assignee: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.Inventor: Michael E.
