  • Publication number: 20240136591
Abstract: Disclosed are embodiments of battery stacker machines, including z-fold stacker machines, configured to provide a rolling transfer of a battery layer so as to reduce scrubbing. In some embodiments, the layer is flexed onto an arcuate surface using a vacuum or other force. The arcuate surface is then rotated to release the layer at a desired transfer location. For instance, the desired transfer location may be on top of a stack or onto another arcuate gripper surface.

  • Publication number: 20240068889
Abstract: A pressure/force sensor comprises a diaphragm structure including a sensing element and a lead structure extending from the diaphragm structure and including first and second traces electrically coupled to the sensing element. The diaphragm structure and the lead structure include a circuit assembly comprising a common insulating layer and a common conductor layer on the insulating layer. The conductor layer includes at least a portion of the sensing element and at least the first trace.

  • Publication number: 20110313946
Abstract: According to some embodiments, first data to open an escrow account is received. The first data may include data indicative of (a) the name of a prospective parent of an unborn intended beneficiary of the escrow account, and (b) an amount to be deposited in the escrow account. A message may then be transmitted to indicate that the escrow account has been opened, and the message may include an account identification number of the escrow account. An indication that the intended beneficiary of the escrow account has been born may be received, and, in response to the indication, an instruction to convert the escrow account to a 529 college savings plan to benefit the intended beneficiary may be issued. Some embodiments are associated with a financial planning tool that receives first data indicating an age of a prospective college student along with second data indicating first investment holdings of a user, the first investment holdings not including any 529 college savings plan.

  • Patent number: 5687551
Abstract: A pouch filling apparatus for filling pouches with product as the pouches travel around a filler wheel includes a hopper wheel carrying a plurality of hoppers over a sector of the filler wheel empty of pouches. The filler wheel carries a plurality of product dispensing units having an upper accumulation chamber. The hopper wheel and the filler wheel counter-rotate in timed relation so that individual product dispensing units and hoppers cross paths at a product transfer station to allow product to be dropped from a hopper into the accumulation chamber of a product dispensing unit. The filler wheel then rotates to a filling station and the product is released from the accumulation chamber into a pouch travelling along the pouch conveyor.

  • Patent number: 5551492
Abstract: A rotary disc feeder includes a rotary plate with a plurality of radial slots and sliders disposed in the slots. The sliders are cam adjusted to define, respective volumetric chambers between their ends and the slot ends. The cams are carried on a rotational cam carrier positioned by an axially reciprocable but non-rotary positioner. The size of the volumetric chambers is adjusted on the fly. A hopper drops product into the chambers rotating thereunder. Product is dropped from the chambers through a slot in a shutter plate angularly spaced from the hopper. The chambers have a relatively extensive, open cross-section compared to chamber length and small doses of light density, static sensitive product is measured and dispensed rapidly.

  • Patent number: 5117608
Abstract: A web of pouches is fed past a detector. Inflating mechanism inflates individual pouches to create individual profiles. The detector responds to the appearance of a preselected distance between the surface of the pouch and the detector as each pouch passes the detector.

  • Patent number: 4956964
Abstract: A web is folded upon itself and transversely sealed. The web is cut into individual pouches which are fed into gripper units, on an endless conveyor, each having a fixed leading jaw and a movable trailing jaw which grip the leading and trailing edges of the pouches. To open a pouch, the trailing jaw is moved toward the fixed jaw by a cam and held in position by friction. Each opened pouch is carried around a filler unit where it is filled. Thereafter, a cam causes said jaws to spread apart, stretching the mouth of the pouch, where it is sealed in a heat sealer.
