Publication number: 20120036684Abstract: The present invention provides a resealable closure structure (999) which provides at least one region of continuous gas-sealing abutment (900) upon engaging the interengaging members (988, 978) of the closure. The closure provides a region of gas sealing abutment by one or more of. (i) mechanical abutment of closure features (1010, 1013) and associated therewith a caulking composition (990) and/or a sealing material (945); and (ii) defining a void region (1030) by proximity of closure features when interengaging members of the closure are engaged (1020, 1021) which has gas-sealingly infiltrated thereinto a caulking composition (945).Type: ApplicationFiled: August 19, 2005Publication date: February 16, 2012Inventors: Paul Tilman, Michael E. Schreiter, Judith A. Yaeger

Patent number: 7481580Abstract: A reclosable package includes first and second side panels connected to each other along respective side edges and bottom edges. A zipper closure is secured to the first and second side panels along upper edges thereof. A slider device is operably mounted on the zipper closure for opening and closing the zipper closure and a tamper-evident header is connected to the zipper closure and surrounds the slider device. The tamper-evident header has a front portion and a rear portion with upper ends connected together above the slider device and lower ends connected to the zipper closure. The front portion includes a segment displaceable therefrom to allow access to the slider device. A rear portion of the header may be formed with a hole for suspending or carrying the package.Type: GrantFiled: October 1, 2004Date of Patent: January 27, 2009Assignee: Reynolds Consumer Products, Inc.Inventor: Michael E. Patent number: 7182514Abstract: A slider device having contoured top and sidewalls is disclosed for use with a resealable package. In a first embodiment, the slider device includes an engagement structure for engaging and interlocking first and second closure profiles of a resealable closure mechanism. The engagement structure includes a first protrusion and a second protrusion depending from the top wall of the slider device for engaging first and second closure profiles of a resealable closure mechanism. The first and second protrusions selectively open and close the resealable closure mechanism as the slider device is moved from a first position to a second position. In a second embodiment, a slider device is disclosed having first and second slide channels that engage first and second closure profiles. The first and second slide channels selectively open and close the resealable closure mechanism as the slider device is moved from a first position to a second position.Type: GrantFiled: August 5, 2005Date of Patent: February 27, 2007Assignee: Reynolds Consumer Products, Inc.Inventor: Michael E.
