Patent number: 6554215Abstract: A table assembly for a vertical shaft impact crusher includes an impeller having rods embedded vertically in it next to its leading edge. The rods are made from a material which is harder than the material that the body of the impeller is made from. The rods are located where wear is most prevalent. In most situations this would be at both sides of the impeller, but it might be at the center as well. The top surface of the table between impellers is covered with bottom wear plates. The bottom wear plates have raised portions immediately adjacent to the leading edge of the impellers and sloped ramps between the raised portions and the rest of the wear plates.Type: GrantFiled: October 31, 2000Date of Patent: April 29, 2003Assignee: Cedarapids Inc.Inventors: Michael E. Schultz, Claude H. Reber, Harold E. Munsell, Jr.

Patent number: 6509919Abstract: An apparatus for donor colorant detection and donor pick sensing employs N light sources of distinct wavelengths paired with N photosensors. Measured light values for a donor are combined to form an N-dimensioned coordinate value which is then compared against N-dimensioned reference values to determine a color or donor picking condition. The decision algorithm uses a decision rule based on Maximum Likelihood Decoding methods, whereby an Euclidean distance is computed between the measured N-dimensioned coordinate value and each of a set of reference N-dimensioned coordinate values. The apparatus and method detect which donor color has been picked and also detects and identifies multi-pick and pick failure conditions.Type: GrantFiled: September 1, 2000Date of Patent: January 21, 2003Assignee: Eastman Kodak CompanyInventors: Babak Tehranchi, Robert W. Spurr, Michael E. Schultz

Patent number: 5892097Abstract: The transesterification of substituted lower alkyl hydroxyhydrocinnamates with a higher alcohol or a polyol is greatly facilitated by the use of a trace amount of a tin catalyst. In many cases, the amount of the catalyst is so small that it is unnecessary to remove it from the final product by distillation of said product.Type: GrantFiled: May 22, 1997Date of Patent: April 6, 1999Assignee: Ciba Specialty Chemicals CorporationInventors: John R. Ross, Michael E. Schultz, Benoit Dubuis, Peter Kung

Patent number: 5329297Abstract: A thermal printer is capable of printing proofs of images on a receiver with any of a plurality of selected half-tone dot patterns. The proof image is generated with a series of incremental dots. A plurality of the incremental dots are generated substantially simultaneously as a swath. The image is formed as a composite of a plurality of the swaths. The printer has the capability of printing with various swath widths. The swath width for a particular image is selected to preclude visible beating of the incremental dots against the selected half-tone dot pattern. Any image artifacts which are a product of interaction of the selected half-tone dot pattern and image elements (such as picket fences) are properly illustrated on the proof image. Image artifacts that are the product of interactions of the incremental dots and the half-tone dots are made invisible to the human eye.Type: GrantFiled: August 23, 1991Date of Patent: July 12, 1994Assignee: Eastman Kodak CompanyInventors: Kurt M. Patent number: 5323179Abstract: A method is disclosed for the calibration of a multichannel printer. The printer comprises a plurality of diode lasers which are modulated in accordance with an information signal. Radiation from the diode lasers is imaged onto a receiving medium such as a thermal print medium. The thermal print medium is supported on a drum which is rotatable about an axis. In order to balance the output from the diode lasers, test patterns are formed on the receiving medium with each of the lasers using known power inputs. The density of each of the test patterns is measured, and the density values obtained are correlated with the input power levels for each of the lasers. The measurement of densities produced by a single laser is facilitated by slowing the print head down by a factor of the number of lines normally printed and writing with one line source at a time.Type: GrantFiled: August 23, 1991Date of Patent: June 21, 1994Assignee: Eastman Kodak CompanyInventors: Kurt M. Patent number: 5319783Abstract: A programmable controller senses the status of input devices and controls the state of operating devices in accordance with a stored ladder logic control program. A memory of the programmable controller contains message data and data defining a set of expected transitions of the status of selected input devices. An instruction of the ladder logic initiates execution of a machine language message program which causes the programmable control to inspect the states of the selected input devices to determine whether an expected transition has taken place. When one of the expected transitions occurs, the message data and an identification of the selected input device are sent to a personal computer connected to the programmable controller. The personal computer uses the the data from the programmable controller to formulate an alphanumeric message which is presented to the operator on a display device.Type: GrantFiled: August 13, 1991Date of Patent: June 7, 1994Assignee: Allen-Bradley Company Inc.Inventors: Steven M. Zink, Arthur P. Pietrzyk, Michael E. Schultz, Paul J. Tletski

Patent number: 5265004Abstract: A programmable controller for sensing the status of input devices and controlling the state of operating devices in accordance with a stored ladder logic control program includes a state machine instruction. A memory is provided for storing data regarding each state of an apparatus being controlled. This data defines the status of apparatus operating devices for each state, and the legitimate transitions from that state to other selected states, along with a Boolean logic expression of selected input conditions which determines when a state transition should occur. A processor responds to the state machine instruction by examining the truth of the Boolean logic expressions for the present state of the apparatus to detect if a state transition should occur. Upon such a detection controller advances to the state associated with the detected true expression. State transitions also can be defined as occurring upon a specified change in the status of a single input.Type: GrantFiled: October 15, 1991Date of Patent: November 23, 1993Assignee: Allen-Bradley Company, Inc.Inventors: Michael E. Patent number: 4394094Abstract: A data printer prints alphanumeric information on photographic slide mounts. The data printer includes a platform and a pair of parallel guide rails which define a slide track along which slide mounts are advanced. The platform has a printing aperture through which a print head prints alphanumeric characters onto a bottom surface of the slide mount positioned at the printing station. A pair of generally parallel conveyor belts are positioned above the platform and extend along the slide track so that a slide mount at the print station is held between the lower runs of the belt and the platform. A DC electric motor is connected to the conveyor belts through a pulley, and performs two functions: slide mount motion sensing during each cycle and slide mount ejecting at the end of each customer order. The motion sensing function is provided due to the movement of the belts as the slide mount is pushed into the printing station by a subsequent slide mount.Type: GrantFiled: January 21, 1982Date of Patent: July 19, 1983Assignee: Pako CorporationInventors: Robert A.
