    Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for creating an printed circuit board including one or more waveguides having one or more reflective surfaces. Waveguides are embedded within a printed circuit board. A reflective surface is formed within the embedded waveguides by mechanically milling the printed circuit board. The reflective surfaces enable intra chip, chip-to-chip, or chip-to-component optical interconnections through the waveguides embedded within the printed circuit board.
