  • Patent number: 9344770
Abstract: A wireless access system comprises a base station and a control system. The base station wirelessly broadcasts a pilot signal including a network access provider identifier that identifies a wireless video service. The base station wirelessly receives a wireless video uplink request from a wireless video device in response to the pilot signal. The control system processes reservation data for the base station to determine if the wireless video device has a current wireless video uplink reservation and directs the base station to provide a wireless video uplink to the wireless video device if the wireless video device has the current wireless video uplink reservation. The base station wirelessly receives video data from the wireless video device over the wireless video uplink as directed by the control system.

  • Patent number: 9203978
Abstract: Methods and products for providing an item of content to a mobile device in a prepaid context by way of a wireless telecommunications network are provided. One embodiment of a method includes receiving an indication that the item of content is desired to be communicated to a mobile device (which is associated with a certain customer); determining that the customer obtains wireless-telecommunications services by way of either a piecemeal plan or a recurring-fees plan; when the customer is associated with the piecemeal plan, determining that a remaining amount of the prepaid balance is insufficient to pay for the desired content (and thereby triggering a first follow-up process); and when the customer is associated with the recurring plan, determining that an immediate-payment option does not exist (and thereby triggering a second follow-up process).

  • Patent number: 8619817
Abstract: A communication gateway receives an Internet Protocol (IP) message sourced from a first IP address and directed to a second IP address. The gateway associates the first IP address with a code. The gateway processes the second IP address to identify a Radio Access Network (RAN) address. The gateway transfers the IP message directed to the RAN address and sourced from the second IP address. The IP message uses the code as the source port number. A base station receives the IP message, and in response to the RAN address, wirelessly transfers the IP message to a routing system. The routing system wirelessly receives the IP message and forwards the IP message based on the second IP address which is now in the source address field.

  • Patent number: 8359622
Abstract: A wireless video device comprises: a user interface, optical receiver, processing system, and wireless transceiver. The optical receiver processes optical signals to generate corresponding video data. The user interface receives a user request to establish a wireless video uplink. The processing system processes the user request to generate a system request for the wireless video uplink. The wireless transceiver wirelessly transfers the system request to a wireless access system and wirelessly receives at least one system condition for a grant of the request. The processing system processes the condition to direct the user interface to display the condition. The user interface displays the condition and receives a user acceptance of the condition. The processing system processes the user acceptance to direct the wireless transceiver to wirelessly transfer the video data to the wireless access system. The wireless transceiver wirelessly transfers the video data to the wireless access system.

  • Publication number: 20130007829
Abstract: A wireless video device operates in a video uplink system having a plurality of wireless access systems. The wireless video device displays a geographic map and receives user inputs indicating a geographic location and a time period. The wireless video device transfers a video uplink request that indicates a wireless video device identifier, the geographic location, and the time period. The wireless video device may receive a video uplink grant. The wireless video device optically receives video and generates corresponding video data. The wireless video device wirelessly transfers the video data to one of the wireless access systems serving the geographic location during the time period.

  • Patent number: 8296810
Abstract: A wireless video uplink system comprises wireless access systems and a reservation system. The reservation system receives a video uplink request that indicates a user, a geographic location, and a time period. The reservation system processes the video uplink request to select one of the wireless access systems that serves the geographic location. The reservation system determines if the selected wireless access system has available video uplink capacity during the time period, and if so, the system directs the selected wireless access system to provide the wireless video uplink to a wireless video device associated with the user during the time period. The selected wireless access system wirelessly receives video data over the video uplink from the wireless video device during the time period. The selected wireless access system also inhibits another video uplink attempt from another wireless video device during the time period.

  • Patent number: 8279776
Abstract: In a communication system, a gateway receives an IP message having source IP address and port number and having a destination IP address and port number. The gateway system transfers the IP message with a different destination IP address. A base station receives the IP message and wirelessly transfers the IP message to a routing system. The routing system transfers a reverse DNS query for the source IP address and receives a DNS reply indicating a domain name. The routing system selects a network address translation set based on the domain name, translates a destination port number into another destination IP address using the network address translation set, and transfers the IP message with the other destination IP address.

  • Patent number: 8190128
Abstract: A method and system are described for operating a source communication device. The source communication device receives a first request from a user through a user interface requesting a first communication session with a target communication device. The source communication device transfers a first signal to a network requesting the first communication session with the target communication device, wherein the target communication device provides an overt communication alert for the first communication session. The source communication device receives a second request from the user requesting a second communication session requesting that the target communication device provide a covert communication alert for the second communication session.

  • Patent number: 7281263
Abstract: A network security system for managing access to a plurality of different network systems for a plurality of users. The network security system includes an enterprise directory system configured to process request messages from each of the network systems requesting access rights for a user to generate a response message for each of the network systems that includes the access rights for the user. The enterprise directory system is also configured to process a single termination message to generate an individual termination message for each of the network systems that includes an instruction to terminate the access rights for one of the users.
