  • Patent number: 11736968
Abstract: The present application describes a user equipment including a processor and a memory, where the memory stores computer-executable instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the user equipment to perform a set of instructions. The instructions include transmitting, to a network, a message requesting to modify or establish flow that is not to be charged to the user equipment. The instructions also include receiving, from the network, an indication based on the message request. The instructions further include determining, based on the indication, whether to make the flow being associated with the message.

  • Publication number: 20230262141
Abstract: The concept of a service layer message template is introduced, which may be a request template or a response template. Message templates may be created and stored at the service layer. Each message template may contain a set of request or response parameters and their values. Once in place, an application can send a request to the service layer that does not include the request parameters contained in the message template (i.e. request template); instead, a message template identifier may be sent. Since request parameters are included in the message template and stored at the service layer, communication overhead between the service layer and the application (or another service layer) may be reduced.

  • Patent number: 11729293
Abstract: A mapping service in the mobile core network located after a packet data network gateway examines content requests from user equipment across a first PDN connection to determine if content associated with the content request is cached at an edge server outside of the packet data network. If the content from the packet data network is cached at the edge server, the mapping service redirects the user equipment to request the content from the edge server across a second PDN connection. By using a mapping service located after the packet data network gateway, the content requests may have already passed restrictions such as parental controls.

  • Publication number: 20230247014
Abstract: Mechanisms support machine-to-machine service layer sessions that can span multiple service layer hops where a machine-to-machine service layer hop is a direct machine-to-machine service layer communication session between two machine-to-machine service layer instances or between a machine-to-machine service layer instance and a machine-to-machine application. Mechanisms are also disclosed that illustrate machine-to-machine session establishment procedures for oneM2M Session Management Service supporting multiple resources.

  • Patent number: 11700508
Abstract: A network entity, such as a user equipment (UE), may request that a network provide multicast and broadcast services, e.g., where the request includes entity preferences such as network slice selection information. The network may provide information regarding provision of such services, where the information may include, for example, whether a service will be provided via a user plane or a control plane connection, network slice information, additional connections to be formed, separate encryption for such connections, etc. A Multicast/Broadcast Network Function (MBNF) may be used to establish such connections and manage a broadcast and multicast sessions. The MBNF may, for example, manage groups of entities, check an entity's access privileges for services, communicate with the a Management and Network Orchestration (MANO) system to reserve resources, and send data to entities over a shared control plane connection.

  • Patent number: 11683353
Abstract: IoT service layer capabilities may be employed to automate and simplify the service enrollment process for IoT service subscribers/enrollees. These capabilities enable virtualization of a service subscriber and the physical IoT devices, applications, data and authorized users of the subscriber into a software profile that is representative of the subscriber. Once virtualized, a service subscriber may then delegate the complexities and burden of service enrollment to an automated IoT service enrollment software function.

  • Patent number: 11671306
Abstract: Enhancements to the device management functionality within service layer architecture of a Gateway node are described. The SL application registration procedure can be enhanced for devices in support of device management. • Publication number: 20230119176
Abstract: Radio networks such as Public Land Mobile Networks (PLMNs), user equipment devices (UEs), servers such as Internet-of-Things servers, and core network entities may be adapted to facilitate transfers of connections of wireless devices. For example, a first PLMN may provide restricted access to a UE to assist the UE in finding a second PLMN for a full connection. Entities may be adapted to support for non-coverage related PLMN transfers, such as transfers initiated by UEs, PLMNs, servers, and core network entities, e.g., in response to changing usage, congestion, etc.

  • Patent number: 11611949
Abstract: When mobile terminated devices sleep, the devices might not be reachable when needed, for instance when the device is a recipient of data from a third party server. As described herein, a third party application server may inform the network that it has data to send to a particular UE or group of UEs. In an example, the mobile core network (MCN) may use information from the third party server to ensure that the UE is awake when it needs to be. For example, a given UE or group of UEs can be prevented from entering a sleep state before a data transfer is completed.

  • Patent number: 11596023
Abstract: Various issues with existing congestion and overload control mechanisms are recognized and described herein. Described herein, in accordance with various embodiments, are various mechanisms in which core networks, such as 3GPP networks for example, and an M2M service layer can coordinate and share information to efficiently and intelligently manage each other's congestion and overload states.

  • Patent number: 11576042
Abstract: It is recognized herein that capabilities are lacking related to how different users can be authenticated on top of an existing subscription authentication. In some examples, a userĀ¬ centric authentication layer may be supported on top of an existing subscription authentication, such that different users may use the same user equipment (UE) with customized services, and different users of devices can be identified behind a gateway with a 3GPP subscription (without the devices having a dedicated 3GPP subscription). Further, a user identifier may be linked to a subscription to access 3GPP services via non-3GPP access.

  • Publication number: 20230017009
Abstract: A user equipment device (UE) initiates the creation of a dedicated bearer between a local gateway (L-GW) and a packet data network gateway (P-GW). A GTP tunnel is established to connect the L-GW, a serving gateway (S-GW), and the P-GW. The L-GW and P-GW apply Network Address Translation (NAT) and/or Traffic Flow Template (TFT) to route the traffic between the LS and a Service Capacity Server/Application Server (SCS/AS). Alternatively, an SCS-initiates the bearer creation, and an SCEF manages the creation of the GTP tunnel connecting. The L-GW may be co-located with an Evolved UTRAN Node B (eNB) and/or connected to multiple eNBs which are not co-located with the L-GW.

  • Patent number: 11528677
Abstract: A network entity may determine whether a network context of a device is stored in the device or in the network based, at least in part, on a preference or capability of the device, as reported by the device during attachment to the network entity. The context may be stored in, and retrieved from, a dedicated context storage function that is independent of the network entity. A context storage function may be partitioned, or separate storage functions used, to automatically group and track access network contexts, core network contexts, or network slice contexts. The context storage function may provide to the device an index, such as a link or other identifier to be used in retrieving the stored context information. The context storage function may further provide a token to secure re-attachment communications among the device, the network entity, and the context storage function.
