  • Patent number: 11371453
Abstract: A method is proposed for regulating a fill level of an exhaust component storage of a catalyst (26) of an internal combustion engine (10), wherein the regulating of the fill level is done by using a system model (100), comprising a catalyst model (102), and wherein uncertainties of measured or model variables influencing the regulating of the fill level are corrected by an adaptation, which is based on signals of an exhaust gas probe (34) arranged at the outlet side of the catalyst (26). The method is characterized in that the adaptation takes multiple pathways (200, 210, 220), wherein signals from different signal regions (260, 280, 300) of the exhaust gas probe (34) situated at the outlet side are processed on different pathways. • Publication number: 20210324779
Abstract: A method (200) for ascertaining a catalytic converter state is proposed, wherein an exhaust-gas catalytic converter (130) is monitored on the basis of a catalytic converter model. Here, the catalytic converter model is adapted (250) in a manner dependent on measured values detected by means of one or more sensors (145, 147), wherein a frequency and/or a degree of the adaptation of the catalytic converter model is detected (260). The catalytic converter state is ascertained (270) as non-critical if the frequency and/or the degree of the adaptation do not exceed a predeterminable threshold value or is ascertained (270) as critical if the frequency and/or the degree of the adaptation exceed the predeterminable threshold value.

  • Patent number: 11136929
Abstract: A device and method for controlling an internal combustion engine having a catalytic converter. At least one actuating variable for the internal combustion engine is determined as a function of a system model of the catalytic converter and/or the internal combustion engine. The system model, a setpoint variable for the control and/or the actuating variable is adapted. Information about a modeled residual oxygen content in the exhaust gas downstream from the catalytic converter is determined using the system model. Information about an acquired residual oxygen content in the exhaust gas at the output of the catalytic converter is acquired. The information about the modeled residual oxygen content is compared with the information about the acquired residual oxygen content. A measure for an adaptation requirement is determined as a function of the result of the comparison.

  • Patent number: 11111873
Abstract: A filling of an exhaust gas component storage of a catalytic converter is regulated. An actual fill level of the exhaust gas component storage is ascertained using a first system model, and a base lambda setpoint value for a first control loop is predefined by a second control loop. An initial value for the base lambda setpoint value is converted into a fictitious fill level, the fictitious fill level being compared with a setpoint value for the fill level output, and the base lambda setpoint value being iteratively changed as a function of the comparison result, if a difference between the setpoint value for the fill level and the fictitious fill level is greater than a predefined degree. The base lambda setpoint value is not changed if no difference exists between the setpoint value for the fill level and the fictitious fill level.

A lambda-target-value (?in,set) for a first control-loop is specified by a lambda-target-value pilot control, and that, if the first exhaust-gas probe is not ready for operation, a replacement signal for the signal of the first exhaust-gas probe is supplied to the system-model, and the replacement signal is used in the lambda-target-value pilot control as an initial-value for the lambda-target-value.
