  • Patent number: 7379105
Abstract: A video image capture device includes an image sensor including an two-dimensional array of pixel elements overlaid with a pattern of color filters and having a vertical resolution different from the vertical resolutions specified for a group of video formats, a frame buffer for storing digital pixel data outputted by the image sensor, and an interpolator module for interpolating the digital pixel data to generate video data in at least three color planes and having a vertical resolution corresponding to a video format selected from the group of video formats. In one embodiment, the group of video formats includes the NTSC and PAL video formats. The vertical resolution of the image sensor has a value between the vertical resolution of the NTSC and PAL video formats. The interpolator module performs interpolation using a set of combined filters, each of the combined filters incorporating a demosaic filter and a scaling filter.

  • Patent number: 7362911
Abstract: A method for removing a stationary noise pattern from digital images uses an adaptive noise estimation algorithm to calculate a prediction of the fixed pattern noise and a confidence estimate for the prediction. In one embodiment, a predicted noise value is obtained from the captured image and a predicted image derived from spatial and temporal pixel value prediction techniques. The predicted noise value is used to update a fixed pattern noise estimate only when the confidence estimate for the predicted image is high. In another embodiment, the confidence estimate is used as a weight factor for blending the noise prediction into the noise estimate. In yet another embodiment, the adaptive noise estimation algorithm is applied to a prediction area in the image for calculating scaling parameters which scaling parameters are used to calculate a noise estimate for the entire image based on a reference noise image.

  • Patent number: 7362355
Abstract: A system-on-chip imaging system includes an image sensor of a two-dimensional array of pixel elements providing pixel data representing an image of a scene, a data memory for storing pixel codewords whereby at least some of the pixel codewords are indicative of the pixel data, a programmable lookup table for providing LUT codewords as output data, and a processing unit for receiving LUT codewords from the lookup table and generating output image data. In operation, a first pixel codeword stored in the data memory is used to index the lookup table for causing the lookup table to provide a respective LUT codeword to the processing unit. The processing unit operates to perform one or more image processing functions in response to the LUT codeword. The lookup table can be programmed to perform a variety of image processing functions, including defective pixel correction, CDS subtraction, privacy masking and dark signal subtraction.

  • Patent number: 7339293
Abstract: An electric machine has a rotor that is rotatable about an axis of rotation, and an especially superconducting winding which is to be cooled to a low temperature. The winding is enveloped by a securing means with a wrap. The outer contour of the wrap of the securing means increases from a smaller outside diameter to a greater outside diameter in the axial direction. The wrap is surrounded in a force-fitting manner by several securing rings which are arranged one behind another and have an inside diameter which conforms to the respective outside diameter of the outer contour.
