Abstract: The aqueous hair treatment gel contains a combination of at least one itaconic acid monoester/acrylate copolymer and at least one non-ionic, anionic, zwitterionic or amphoteric hair-fixing polymer. The itaconic acid monoester has a formula CH2═C(COOR1)CH2COOR2, wherein one of R1 and R2 represents hydrogen and the other represents —(CH2CH2O)x—R3, x is a number between 1 to 100 and R3 is an alkyl group having 8 to 30 carbon atoms. The aqueous hair treatment gel has a pH of greater than 7 and a viscosity of greater than 500 mPa.s, as measured at 25° C.

It provides hair to which it is applied with improved hair shaping, long-lasting luster and soft feel. It behaves like an oil, without having an oil in the classical sense as its principal ingredient.

Abstract: The pigment-containing foamable gel for temporarily coloring the hair contains from 35 to 98 percent by weight water; one or more gel-forming thickener that imparts a yield point to the composition; at least one pigment; at least one film-forming, hair-fixing polymer; at least one foam-producing surfactant and at least one propellant, in combination with a suitable aerosol package and a foam-forming device for foaming the gel. The concentration of the thickener or thickeners in the gel is selected so that, on the one hand, the viscosity of the gel is sufficiently reduced so that foaming of the gel is possible and, on the other hand, the yield point is at least large enough so that settling of the pigment is prevented. The easily foamable composition has a hair-fixing effect and temporarily colors the hair, providing a high color brilliance and lustrous appearance. The composition is washable from the hair at will and the color of the hair provided by it has good fastness to rubbing.

Abstract: The gel and the thickened hair treatment composition contain a combination of (A) at least one terpolymer of vinyl pyrrolidone, vinyl caprolactam and a basic acrylamide monomer, and (B) a gel-forming ingredient selected from the group consisting of gel formers which increase, or at most decrease by about 40%, a viscosity of an aqueous composition containing them when the at least one terpolymer is added to the aqueous composition. The combination of the shellac and the synthetic hair fixing polymer causes a synergistic viscosity lowering which advantageously promotes rinsibility without impairing fixing performance.

Skin treatment preparations containing Ilex resin produce a stable protective film on the skin. Hair treatment preparations containing Ilex resin intensify the color, increase luster, contribute to good wet combability, and improve the elasticity of the hair treated with the preparation.

In the method of treating, forming or maintaining the hair style the composition is distributed on the hair so that the fibers are deposited in the hair and then the hair is combed, set in the hair style and dried. Other fibers including viscose, polyester, cellulose, flax linen, wool and cotton can be used instead of silk or polyamide in the composition.

This aqueous hair fixing composition necessarily contains no organic solvents, no cationic surfactants and no cationic polymers and a physiologically acceptable acid or base is added to it to adjust its pH so that the film-forming polymer ingredient is at least partially precipitated.
