  • Publication number: 20100053957
Abstract: An LED based module designed to be easily retrofitted into existing incandescent based light fixtures with minimum or no modification is provided. The LED module of the present disclosure includes a generally cylindrical threaded adapter module including a flat top surface and a conical bottom portion. The bottom portion includes a threaded cavity for receiving a conventional threaded rod of a light fixture which then couples the LED module to the light fixture. The top surface of the LED module is configured to mount a metal core printed circuit board including at least one LED (light emitting diode). Furthermore, the LED module includes at least two channels running therethrough to accommodate wires or conductors from the light fixture to the metal core printed circuit board. The threaded surface of the LED module is configured to accept a conventional shade retainer ring or nut.

  • Patent number: 6557353
Abstract: A thermoelectric apparatus includes a power source, a body having a first side and a second with a defined perimeter where the first side and the second side are separated by a gap. It further includes an insulation means for providing a thermal barrier, a cooling means placed between the first side and the second side for cooling an object and a connecting means for securing the body into a defined shape around an object. A method of operating a thermoelectric apparatus includes wrapping a body around an object, with the body having a first side and a second side, a defined perimeter and the first side and second side separated by a gap containing an insulation means that forms a thermal barrier. Another step is engaging a connecting means for securing said body into a defined shape around the object, engaging a power source and then operating a cooling means placed between the first side and second side of the body in the gap for cooling the object.

  • Publication number: 20010035420
Abstract: A no spill training cup includes a cup and cover with a drinking spout in the cover. The cover also has a vent opening for maintaining the ambient pressure in the cup with the vent opening being covered by a hydrophobic membrane that allows the flow of air into the cup but prevents liquid from flowing out of the cup through the vent opening. A valve housing is attached to the cover on the inlet side of the spout. The valve includes a diaphragm supported in the housing and biased to engage a valve seat in the housing to prevent flow of liquid from the cup to the spout. When a child sucks on the spout, the pressure on the outlet side of the diaphragm causes it to disengage the valve seat and allow the liquid to flow out of the cup through the spout. When the child stops sucking on the spout, the valve immediately returns to its closed position on the seat so as to prohibit the flow of liquid from the cup through the spout.

  • Patent number: 5856660
Abstract: A scanner interface is operatively connected to an electro-optical scanner for scanning bar code symbols. A status/condition interface is operatively connected with a system component, e.g., a photodetector, a decoder, a battery, etc., whose status/condition is to be monitored. Threshold information about the system component is stored in a memory. A system processor generates updated information about the system component during scanning, compares the updated information with the threshold information and generates an output signal upon such comparison. In response to the output signal, an indicator signals a user as to the status/condition of the system component.
