  • Patent number: 9425383
Abstract: A method for fabricating electroactive polymer transducers, the includes providing an electroactive polymer film comprising an elastomeric dielectric polymer, forming an array of electrodes on the film, and sandwiching the electrode array between a top and bottom array of frame components to form an array of electroactive polymer transducers.

  • Publication number: 20160025429
Abstract: The disclosure provides a thermal management apparatus. The apparatus includes a housing that defines a first air flow channel and a second air flow channel and an electroactive polymer actuator located within the housing, the electroactive polymer actuator configured to move in response to an activation signal. The electroactive polymer actuator defines a first chamber in fluid communication with the first air flow channel and defines a second chamber in fluid communication with the second air flow channel, the first and second chambers are fluidically isolated from each other. The electroactive polymer actuator is configured to oscillate when excited by the activation signal and eject pulses of air through the first and second air flow channels. An apparatus that includes two electroactive polymer actuators as well as method of generating air flow for thermal management also is disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20110252611
Abstract: The present invention provides portable multipoint tenter made from a rotating ring with a plurality of curved slots for placement in each of a first prong of a plurality of two-prong, guide pins, a circular base plate with a plurality of straight slots for placement of the first prong and a second prong of the plurality of two-prong guide pins and a contact pad attached to each of the second prongs. The inventive portable multipoint tenter helps to assure asymmetrical stzetch and is customizable so it can be made with various numbers of pads with minimal redesign. Because the inventive device is hand powered rather than electrical, the device is both portable and environmentally friendly.
