    Abstract: Errors in regard to toner materials which may or may not correspond to toner materials installed in a developer unit of a print engine are avoided by providing storage of data concerning the toner in the printer rather than the dedicated processor. A feedback link is thus developed which extends from the developer unit or print engine through the dedicated processor to the supporting processors. Confidence levels in the correspondence of the information and the installed toner are increased by use of a simple switch position associated with the location of a developer unit. The feedback arrangement for avoidance of printing errors is also fully compatible with a customer changeable developer feature while allowing the printer to be operated in accordance with operating parameters specific to a special purpose toner such as MICR or a color toner.

    Abstract: An embedded surface wave antenna is described of compact design capable of broadband performance both for impedance match and for radiation pattern characteristics comprising two spaced apart conductive planar elements, one element being a transition from a narrow portion to a wider portion according to a continuous function, said one element having an upward inclination away from the other of said conductive planar elements and ending in a termination at the wider portion, a tapered lens material having a downward inclination from said termination toward said other of said conductive planar elements to define a sloping surface therebetween for launching and receiving electromagnetic waves. The subject surface wave antenna may be readily adapted into assemblies of radiating elements in a predetermined electrical and geometric configuration to provide an array rendering a preferred radiation pattern.

    Abstract: The subject invention relates to antennas having substantially greater bandwidth and low angle gain of the type for the transceiving of circularly/elliptically polarized electromagnetic waves. The antenna structure comprises a ground plane, a source of linearly-polarized wave energy field associated with said ground plane, and a plurality of conductive elements having an L-shape, said elements equally spaced from one another and equiangularly disposed about the sources, said plurality of elements being in a form of a circular arrangements, each element being so disposed as to fall on the circumference of the circular arrangement, each element lying in a common plane orthogonal to the linearly-polarized wave energy field provided by said source. The subject invention has special utility in motor and marine craft for communication and navigation.
