  • Patent number: 10480146
Abstract: Helical screw pile assemblies for piling and screwing into a foundation or the ground are provided. These pile assemblies comprise a disc member that mechanically engages with an elongated member causing the disc member to fasten onto the elongated member.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 18, 2018
Date of Patent: November 19, 2019

  • Patent number: 5930431
Abstract: A fiber optic cable (10) includes a cable core (20) and a jacket section (30). Cable core (20) includes a central member (21), buffer tubes (23, 26), and optical fibers (22, 25) in respective buffer tubes. Jacket section (30) includes a tape layer (34) with a seam (35), and a seam guard (40) disposed over seam (35). Seam guard (40) is operative to perform dual functions, as the seam guard includes substrate (42) operative to prevent cable zippering, and a waterblocker (44) operative to inhibit the migration of moisture into cable core (20). FIGS. 1-3.

  • Patent number: 5289556
Abstract: Optical fiber unit with optical fibers loosely contained within a flexible tube formed from two plastic strips which are bonded together along edge seams. The structure is completely flexible and the tube is compressible and deformable to assist in packing into channels in a cable while maximizing fiber density in the cable product.

    Filed: September 24, 1992
Date of Patent: February 22, 1994
    Assignee: Northern Telecom Limited
Inventors: Michael G. Rawlyk, David W. Chiasson, Michael S. Fedoroff
  • Patent number: 5274726
Abstract: Optical fiber units having an optical fiber housed within a flexible tube which in a normal axially unstressed condition is sinusoidal and approaches the fiber first on one side and then on the other. With this structure, upon tube shrinkage occurring, the amplitude increases so as to bend the fiber laterally at desired positions along the fiber length.

  • Patent number: 5188883
Abstract: A composite tape structure having a metal tape layer and a layer of swellable water blocking material, the two layers bonded together face-to-face. The tape structure is for use as a composite shield and water blocking structure surrounding the core of a cable, preferably a telecommunications cable. One edge region of the metal tape layer may extend beyond the layer of water blocking material so that overlapping edges of the metal tape layer confront each other for bonding purposes when used as a shield. The layer of water blocking material may be formed from tape impregnated with or provided with a particulate swellable material, or the particulate material may be applied directly to and bonded to the metal tape layer.

  • Patent number: 5157752
Abstract: Optical cable with optical fibers and a water blocking element extending together along a passageway. The water blocking element swells upon contact with water so as to block the passageway against water migration. The water blocking element may be of filamentary structure, e.g. string or tape which acts as a carrier for water swellable particles, e.g. polyacrylate. The water blocking element may, however, be a filament of the swellable material which is spun with other filaments, e.g. polyester to form a string. The cable may be air pressurizable.

  • Patent number: 4949537
Abstract: Method and apparatus for locating viscous water blocking material beneath a tube in a groove of a core member of an optical cable. The material is laid into the base of the groove and the tube inserted into the groove so as to displace the material from the base and around the tube while a space between the tube and base of the groove remains filled with the material.
