  • Patent number: 6913180
Abstract: A nail gun for conveniently nailing fasteners of different sizes and/or types is disclosed. The nail gun includes a body and a nail storage mechanism. The body includes a selectively operable drive mechanism. The nail storage mechanism includes first and second supply magazines movably mounted to the body whereby each supply magazine is selectively moved into position for use. Each supply magazine is loaded with nails of different sizes and/or types. Each supply magazine is selectively moved relative to the drive mechanism to a drive position wherein the supply magazine is operably arranged with the drive mechanism to selectively discharge a nail in a firing position from the supply magazine. A mounting mechanism is provided to pivotally mount the supply magazines to the body. The body includes a supply magazine support mechanism, which is selectively cooperate with the supply magazine in the drive position to support that supply magazine.

  • Patent number: 6557743
Abstract: A powered nail gun is disclosed that has two chambers to hold nails of different sizes or types wherein each chamber can be selectively rotated into a ready-for-use position. A pivot assembly can be provided having a pivot member, a rotatable connecting plate depending therefrom, and first and second supply cartridges connected to the connecting plate and facing in opposing directions. Each supply cartridge has one of the chambers and a firing position to receive and position a nail for impact by a drive mechanism. When one of the supply cartridges is rotated to the ready-for-use position, its firing position is in registration with an impact end of the drive mechanism. Each supply cartridge includes a spring-biased follower to urge the nails in the cartridge toward the firing position.

Abstract: A powered nail gun that has two chambers or supply cartridges to hold nails of different sizes or types wherein each chamber can be selectively rotated into the ready-for use position. A pivot assembly is mounted under the compression chamber of a pneumatically powered nail gun, having a pivot member, a rotatable connecting plate at the lower end of the pivot member, a first supply cartridge connected along one side edge of the connecting plate facing in one direction and a second supply cartridge connected along the opposite side edge of the connecting plate facing in the direction opposite that of the first supply cartridge, the forward end of each supply cartridge having a firing position to receive and position a nail for impact by the drive mechanism of the nail gun. When one of the supply cartridges is rotated to the ready-for-use position, its forwardly located firing position is in registration with the impact end of the drive mechanism.
