  • Patent number: 11767384
Abstract: Polyethylene copolymers with a structure that provides improved film properties are provided. The copolymers can have a density of about 0.905 to about 0.911 g/cm3. The copolymers can also have a DRI/I2 ratio of about 0.0008 to about 0.060, an I2 value of about 0.6 to about 3.8 dg/min, and an I21 value of about 8 to about 57 dg/min. The copolymers having those properties can be produced by introducing ethylene and at least one other olefin comonomer to a single reactor at a comonomer/ethylene mole ratio of about 0.02 to about 0.03 and polymerizing at a temperature of about 76.7° C. to about 80.6° C. and a pressure of about 1,724 kPa to about 2,413 kPa. The copolymers can be used to make films having a 21 mol % O2 transmission rate of about 150 to about 200 cc/100 in2/24 hr. and hot tack seal initiation temperatures of about 65° C. to 80° C.

  • Patent number: 11740617
Abstract: Methods and systems for performing transient processes may include: providing a path and path thresholds for an operational condition as a function of progress of a transient process based on historical data of previously performed transient processes; performing the transient process in a chemical reactor using operational parameters; measuring the operational condition of the transient process as a function of the progress of the transient process; and adjusting one or more of the operational parameters during the progress of the transient process to maintain the operational condition within the path thresholds.

Date of Patent: August 29, 2023
Assignee: ExxonMobil Technology and Engineering Company
Inventors: Onur Onel, Jitendra V. Kadam, Apostolos T. Georgiou, Michael G. Tribo, Benjamin J. Ohran, Yunfei Chu, Christopher W. Graham, Tyler A. Soderstrom
  • Patent number: 11208506
Abstract: A method for the removal of unreacted olefin monomer(s) from polyolefin product particles of an olefin polymerization reaction, the method including: contacting the polyolefin product particles with a countercurrent flow of a purge gas in a purge vessel under conditions allowing diffusion of unreacted monomer and other gaseous substances from the polyolefin product particles into the countercurrent flow of the purge gas to produce purged particles; wherein the velocity of the purge gas exceeds 50% of the calculated minimum fluidization velocity of the polyolefin product particles in the purge vessel (Umf), is provided.
