Patent number: 11497349Abstract: Disclosed is an outdoor cooking appliance with ductwork that directs heat and smoke more evenly in the cook chamber of the appliance. For example, the ductwork can extend from the heat source of the appliance and direct the smoke to openings in rack holders that then dispel the smoke into the cook chamber more evenly. The burn pot assembly can also be segregated from the grease pan to avoid the potential for grease fires.Type: GrantFiled: December 10, 2019Date of Patent: November 15, 2022Assignee: Dansons US, LLCInventors: Glen Meadows, Paul Simon, Michael Giebel

Patent number: 10881246Abstract: An outdoor cooking appliance in combination with an air frying apparatus that has a frying burner, a blower, a heat exchanger, and a cooking chamber. The frying burner is adapted to combust fuel to create heat and other products of combustion. The blower is adapted to circulate a cooking airstream. The heat exchanger is adapted to allow passage of the heat from the combusted fuel while preventing passage of the other products of combustion into the cooking air stream. The blower is further adapted to supply the heated cooking airstream through the heat exchanger to the cooking chamber to cook foodstuff disposed therein while the other products of combustion are not supplied to the cooking chamber.Type: GrantFiled: April 14, 2020Date of Patent: January 5, 2021Inventors: Arno He, Uri Murad, Paul Simon, Michael Giebel

Publication number: 20080105252Abstract: An outdoor firepit comprises a vessel adapted to contain a combustible material. A plurality of conduits are within the vessel and are positioned to be in thermal communication with the combustible material. An air source forces air through the plurality of conduits and into an area surrounding the firepit. An apparatus for heating an outdoor area comprises a vessel adapted to contain a combustible material having an inner bowl and an outer bowl and a space therebetween. A plurality of conduits are within the vessel adjacent the inner bowl and are positioned to be in thermal communication with the combustible material. Patent number: 6363925Abstract: A charcoal grill includes a mechanism whereby a user may adjust the vertical distance between a fuel grate and a cooking grid by rotating a control knob located on the surface of the charcoal grill. This mechanism provides a safer and more convenient way of adjusting the distance between the burning fuel and the food being cooked. The charcoal grill further includes a removable ash collector located at the bottom of the charcoal grill. To empty ash a user slides the ash collector out from its position at the bottom of the charcoal grill, empties it, and then replaces it to resume ash collection. Thus a user may conveniently dispose of ash without the use of an ash sweep tool and without interrupting operation. Furthermore the charcoal grill includes a metal skirt inside its lower shell, which protects the lower shell of the charcoal grill from excessive heat, lengthening its operational life.Type: GrantFiled: March 10, 2000Date of Patent: April 2, 2002Assignee: Sunbeam Products, Inc.Inventors: Ernest Matthew Chavana, Jr., Michael Giebel, Danene N. Jaffe, Mark Christopher Bates

Publication number: 20020011244Abstract: A grill having a bi-level tent configuration, a burner assembly and a grill shell. The lower, first tent has an “I”-shaped configuration. The upper, second tent has a plurality of openings. The burner assembly is formed from stamped metal. The upper piece of stamped metal has a raised or embossed area with multi-level ports. The burner and tent arrangement provides even distribution of heat to the cooking surface and flare-up control. The use of stamped metal for the burner assembly provides for a cost efficient and easy to assemble grill.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 28, 2001Publication date: January 31, 2002Inventors: Michael Giebel, Daniel M. Stewart, Don Freber, Robert Minor, Henry Schubert

Publication number: 20010032640Abstract: A grill side burner assembly including a burner having a generally disc-shaped body with an oval cross-section. Louvered main ports are arranged around the upper part of the burner body and create a cyclone-like distribution of heat to the cooking surface thereby improving efficiency. A fuel feed channel is formed integrally into a lower portion of the burner and provides fuel to the interior of the burner body. The burner can be attached to the bottom of a bowl-like recess in a side-burner base and covered with a grid. The side burner assembly can be implemented with a very low parts count.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 17, 2001Publication date: October 25, 2001Inventors: Michael Giebel, Henry Schubert, Bob Broach, Don Freber, Robert Minor

Patent number: 5719377Abstract: An electric grill which vaporizes grease and juices and sears the food being cooked. The grill has two sets of heating elements, one located directly beneath the cooking surface and the second located proximate a smoker box. The grease and juices fall from the food located on the cooking surface onto the bottom of the grill which channels the grease and juices into the smoker box. The bottom of the grill also functions as a reflector plate to redirect heat towards the cooking surface. The grease, juices, and, optionally, wood chips may vaporized and smoked by the heating element located proximate the smoker box. A printed circuit board regulates the current passing through the heating elements.Type: GrantFiled: June 7, 1995Date of Patent: February 17, 1998Assignee: Sunbeam Products, Inc.Inventors: Michael Giebel, David Landis, Henry Schubert

Patent number: 5711663Abstract: A gas burner, specifically a gas burner for cooking grills. The burner comprises and elongated conduit member having an upper portion of a generally inverted V-shape, a lower portion defining burner ports angled such that the flame caused by burning gases escaping from the burner port does not impinge upon the lower portion. The cross-section of the elongated conduit member burner provides an increased volumetric flow rate which does not require gas pressure equalization means to provide uniform heat generation across the length of the burner.Type: GrantFiled: August 14, 1994Date of Patent: January 27, 1998Assignee: Sunbeam Porducts, Inc.Inventors: Michael Giebel, Steven Speck, Henry Schubert, Robert F. Minor, Sr.
