    Abstract: An LED lighting element having an H-shaped housing. The housing, which may be an extruded housing, has a first section and a second section which is separated from the first section by a cross bar. A back plate is positioned opposite of the crossbar and is removably secured to the first section. A heat sink is located within the housing while a microcontroller and LED drive/control technology and integrated power supply contacts the heat sink and is attached to the back plate. An LED PC board that is electrically connected to the microcontroller and LED drive/control technology and integrated power supply is positioned in the second section and is attached to the housing. An end cap for the housing along with a method for constructing the lighting element are also disclosed.

    Abstract: A large capacity centrifugal vacuum concentrator includes a rotor assembly mounting a plurality of vertical spaced rotors mounted on a drive shaft and intervened with spacers between each lower rotor and a rotor next above, the rotors and spacers having interengaging drive transmission means for transmitting drive to the rotors and spacers when the drive shaft is driven. The rotor assembly is enclosed by a, e.g., cylindrical stainless steel cover which sits on a base and with the base defines a vacuum chamber. When the cover is elevated to open position, four quadrant access is available for loading and unloading of samples on the rotors. The rotor assembly is made up of interchangeable rotors, spacers and vessel holder frames which are selected from families of such dependent on particular vessel capacity and holder frame requirements.

    Abstract: A condenser cold trap unit for recovering as separate primary and secondary condensate fractions solvents contained in an effluent drawn from products being dried in a vacuum chamber includes inner and outer shell vessels, the inner shell vessel be disposed coaxially with the outer shell vessel inside said outer shell vessel with a space being present in the outer shell vessel under the bottom of the inner shell vessel and in a course surrounding the exterior of the inner shell vessel. A cover closes off the open tops of the two shell vessels and the interior space of the outer shell vessel is sealed from communication with outside atmosphere, and the interior space of the inner shell vessel is sealed from any communication with the interior space of the outer shell vessel. A common refrigeration coil encircles the exterior of the inner shell vessel and extends down therefrom to effect solvents condensing temperature levels cooling in both shell vessels.

    Abstract: Apparatus and method for rapidly oscillating specimen containing vessels such as those used in an RNA recovery operation wherein small sized glass sized beads in the vessel are employed to disrupt the cell walls of an RNA component to release the RNA, includes a specimen vessel holder provided as a disc in which the containers are received. The disc is operably connected with oscillatory motion producing means that in operation oscillates the disc rapidly in an oscillatory movement up and down symmetrically of a fixed vertical axis. The disc is haltered so it cannot rotate about the fixed axis. Locking means in the form of a locking plate locks the vessels on the vessel holder and applies a clamping force thereto to prevent relative movement between the vessels and the holder to prevent generation of heat that could be of deleterious effect to the specimen material or the vessels holding same.

    Abstract: A vial holding a material such as an organic liquid-containing biological specimen is received in the receptor of a holder assembly, the assembly further including a centrifugal valve. The holder is mounted on a rotor in a centrifugal vacuum concentrator and the specimen is then subjected to a treatment such as drying in the vacuum chamber. Vapor from the drying vents into the concentrator vacuum chamber, the centrifugal valve which is a normally closed component opens due to imposition thereon of centrifugal force created during and attending rotor speed above a certain RPM. At completion of the treatment and before the rotor falls from its certain RPM, a dried material protective gas blanket can be flowed into the vial, the valve closing to seal the vial and protected contents when RPM of the rotor falls below the certain RPM.

    Abstract: An article transfer arrangement of the type which is utilized to retrieve and store articles which are arranged in a matrix of compartments, such as in a warehouse. In a preferred embodiment, a push member which urges an article on the transfer arrangement into a selected one of the storage compartments is provided with a latching mechanism which facilitates withdrawal of an article which has become jammed during the storage procedure as a result of misalignment. In embodiments where the articles are tote bins of the type which are generally used in such storage systems, the exterior of the tote bins is provided with a depending member having push and pull surfaces. During the storing procedure, the push member communicates with the push surface of the depending member while the latching mechanism latchingly communicates with the pull surface.
