    Abstract: A magnifier for use by people with low vision includes a large LCD display upon which an enlarged image appears. Light from an LED is directed in a first direction onto a deflection wall where it is deflected into a direction substantially orthogonal to the first direction. The deflected light impinges upon a diffuser that bends it so that it illuminates an object upon which the magnifier is placed. The light is then reflected by the object, through the diffuser, and onto a mirror positioned at an angle relative to the object. The mirror directs the light onto a camera lens and the lens focuses the light onto a sensor that drives the LCD display so that the image appears on the LCD screen. The camera is slideably mounted so the user can make the image larger or smaller by sliding the camera toward or away from the mirror, respectively.

A bottom wall of the illuminator is also formed of a flat sheet of clear material and is positioned atop the object to be illuminated. Light from an LED is directed in a first, downward direction onto a deflection wall where it is deflected into a substantially horizontal plane, substantially orthogonal to the first direction. The deflected light impinges upon a horizontally-disposed diffuser that bends the light about ninety degrees so that it travels though the diffuser a first time in a first direction and illuminates the object atop which the illuminator is positioned. The light is then reflected by the object, travels upwardly through the diffuser a second time in a direction opposite to the first direction, and is viewed by the user through the clear material.

    Abstract: A desktop electronic magnifier in a first embodiment includes a monitor and a control panel mounted to the monitor so that access to the control panel cannot be blocked by any position of the monitor. In a second embodiment, a monitor is positioned atop a flat platform that surmounts the camera so that access to the control panel cannot be blocked by any position of the monitor. In a third embodiment, the control panel is mounted to the camera and the monitor is supported by a support surface independent of the magnifier. Access to the control panel is blocked only if the user positions the monitor in blocking relation to the control panel.

A third part has a third breadth less than the second breadth. A second shoulder is formed at the juncture of the second and third parts. A pinhole has first, second, and third sections that respectively receive the first, second and third parts of the pin. The first shoulder limits upward pin travel by abutting an overhang at the juncture of the first and second pinhole sections. The second shoulder limits downward pin travel by abutting a step at the juncture of the second and third pinhole sections.

    Abstract: An improved hose clamping device which uses a housing with a flexible band extending therefrom, and a cylindrical roller with outwardly protruding spiked elements, the roller rotatably mounted within the housing. A turning mechanism turns the roller and the flexible band engages the spikes on the roller to be drawn forward into and through the housing. The band is ideally constructed in whole or in part of a strong fibrous mesh, such as Kevlar, which facilitates ready engagement with the spiked roller. The embodied turning mechanisms are constructed to allow retraction of the band and counter-rotation of the spiked roller without interference of the turning mechanism handle with surround objects.
