  • Publication number: 20230295875
Abstract: A method for creping paper includes applying an adhesive composition to an outer surface of a creping cylinder (Yankee cylinder) to form an adhesive coating, contacting paper with the adhesive coating, removing the paper and adhesive coating from the creping cylinder, and determining a quality of the adhesive coating. Determining the quality of the adhesive coating may include measuring a degree of cross-linking of the adhesive polymer, a concentration of the adhesive polymer in the adhesive coating, a water content of the adhesive coating, an ash content of the adhesive coating, or combinations thereof. Determining the quality of the adhesive coating may also include determining a thickness of the adhesive coating by measuring light absorbed by the coating and calculating the thickness using Beer's Law. Systems and apparatuses for determining the quality of the adhesive coating and for creping paper are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20190076679
Abstract: The portable fall protection device essentially comprises a force reduction device that gradually absorbs a tensile force created within a safety line as a user falls from a height. One aim of the portable fall protection device is to gradually arrest the descent of the user falling in a gradual controlled manner to prevent injury to the user. Furthermore, the portable fall protection device is compact such that it can be constantly worn and carried on the back of the user without impinging on the tasks of the user. As a result of the structure of the portable fall protection device, each portable fall protection device can be individually tested prior to use and can be re-used (and/or reset), if necessary after a fall. In addition, the capacity of the portable fall protection device is adjustable and can be set by a manufacturer and/or operator to produce a bespoke device.

  • Publication number: 20130277876
Abstract: In accordance with one embodiment of the present invention, a system for controlling the properties of an extrusion from a production line is provided. The production line comprises a raw material feed, a mixer, and an extruder. The control system comprises one or more ammeters electrically coupled to an electrically driven mixing motor and an electrically driven extrusion motor. Output signals indicative of the load amperes IM of the mixing motor and the load amperes IX of the extrusion motor are provided. The controller is in communication with the raw material feed and the ammeter and is programmed to compare the load amperes IX of the extrusion motor to the load amperes IM of the mixing motor and determine whether a result of the load ampere comparison warrants modification of an operating parameter of the production line. If so, the controller modifies one or more operating parameters of the production line to account for the variation from the target value.
