  • Patent number: 6871371
Abstract: A floor care method and machine are disclosed, wherein a replaceable floor care element (e.g., a cleaning pad, a brush, a polishing pad, etc.) is easily attached to and detached from the rest of the machine. For attaching the floor care element, an operator positions the machine (minus any floor care element) over the such an element so that components on the machine and/or the floor care element cause the floor care element to operationally align with the rotatable drive of the machine so that rotation of the drive in the direction used during floor care operations causes the floor care element to securely attach to the drive. Alternatively, to detach the floor care element, the direction of rotation can be reversed. The machine can then be tilted upwardly onto its rear wheels and rolled to a location where the floor care element is not underneath the rest of the machine.

  • Publication number: 20040226578
Abstract: The present invention relates to a multi-functional surface cleaning machine having a fluid tank, a primary fluid pump, a secondary priming pump, and at least one receptacle for holding concentrated cleaning chemicals. The receptacle(s) are in fluid communication with an operator controllable selector. The selector, either alone or in combination with a metering valve, may control which chemical(s) and the amount of such chemical(s) that will be allowed to flow to an inlet of a multi-inlet mixing member. A second input to the mixing member is a fluid to be stored within the fluid tank. The fluid and chemical which may be supplied to the mixing member may be mixed within the mixing member to create a cleaning solution, which may be supplied to any number of dispensing devices. One such device may be a spray gun for dispensing pressurized cleaning solutions onto a surface to be cleaned.

  • Patent number: 5625920
Abstract: A cleaning tool is disclosed that includes a brush unit having bristles that is positionable in each of a selected one of a cleaning position and a storage position. In the cleaning position, the brush bristles contact the surface being cleaned using the tool. In the storage position, the brush bristles face in a different direction from the cleaning position and do not contact any surface being cleaned. The tool includes an attachment member for receiving the brush unit. In order to change the position of the brush unit, it is removed from remaining parts of the tool and rotated or otherwise changed in position before re-joining it to the attachment member. In changing between cleaning and storage positions, the ends of the brush unit are disposed at opposite ends of the attachment member. Preferably, the cleaning tool includes a spray control assembly for controlling the spraying of a liquid cleaner during use of the cleaning tool.
